The Squeal~ !!

Just a quicky cause ER is on and I kinda want to watch it - so my big news is that Jacob has discovered the squeal!!! At first I thought it was kinda cute and would squeal back at him in delight that he figured out something new! But now it's not always so cute. He has 2 different squeals, the I'm cute and want to play squeal and the I'm about to cry and you better come get me squeal. The both start out pretty much the same but it's how they end that determines whether it is cute or not! At Costco today it was not so cute ~ gave me a head ache, and people thought I was beating him or something! Maybe I shouldn't have encouraged him to squeal so much cause now it's quite draining! :)

We rearranged our living room last night to make room for our Christmas tree so I think tomorrow I will start taking my fall stuff down and put up Christmas decorations! Tonight I am going over to my girlfriends house to watch a movie, which will be nice cause then I don't have to listen to the squeals. Saturday is a birthday party for hubbies friend kid and Sunday I have a Spa party! I double booked myself on Monday and made a coffee date with the swim moms at 10am, then at 1:30 is a get together with the new moms! It will be a busy week next week - I want to finish putting all the Christmas stuff up, go visit my mom, work on Jacobs scrapbook and Friday Jacob has his 6 month shots!!

Christmas/ Family photos

Last week we had our photo day, we did a lot of pics of just Jacob, family pics of the three of us, a generation pic and Grandpa wanted a pic of just him and Jacob. On Friday we got an email that had all the photos and we could have ordered the ones we wanted on line or went into the store. I decided to go into the store to make sure I got the right ones, so that is what I did today. It took forever! It was suppose to be 1 hour wait but I guess it's a busy time of year so it took a little longer and then I messed up and told them I wanted the wrong pose # so I was at the mall for two and a half hours!! The pics turned out really nice and I like the fact that we got all the poses emailed to us so I saved them onto the computer. I also like the fact that they only put their logo at the very bottom of the pic so if I wanted to I could print out copies of all the pics (even though I think that is illegal? ~ but I didn't sign a contract or anything saying that I wouldn't copy them?) . Their prices weren't too bad either and I ended up getting 20% off just cause I ordered so much and I got some card thing that gives me 20% off every time we go there! Tomorrow I plan on going shopping for picture frames to put them in - we are giving them away for Christmas presents.

Now that swimming is over I find the days a little boring, I signed up for swim classes again but they don't start till Jan 20th and all the moms are going to sign up for Strollerarobics (which is apparently a really good work out) and that also starts in Jan. So my Jan is going to be very busy but Dec might be a little boring, maybe I will do some Christmas baking or crafts!! Or maybe I can get caught up on Jacobs scrapbook!! :)

Other then that - not too much else is new, I am still making Wed nights "my" night out (alone), which seems to be working quite nicely and creating less stress around the house. This weekend is going to be another busy weekend ~ Friday my hubbies friends are having another hot tub party but hubby says he doesn't want to go (I think that is just because it's not as much fun to go to a hut tub party with your wife as it is to go alone, but he denies that?) So we probably won't be going to it, Saturday is a birthday party for another one of hubbies "new friends" kid so we are going to go see Bolt (the new Disney movie) and on Sunday I have a "Spa party" thing my girlfriend is putting on.

5 months old!

5 months already! I can hardly believe it has gone by so fast, Jacob has changed a lot since the day we brought him home and yet some things are still the same. The way he stretches when he is waking up is still the same as the day we brought him home, he is still a snacker and only eats 4oz but every hour or two. He still has 2-3 naps a day but they are a little shorter then before (only lasting about 30min). He is becoming quite the little character, I love going into his room in the morning and seeing his excitement to see someone, he throws his hands in the air and kicks his feet - it's so cute and makes me feel like he loves me! He is sitting up much better now and we are still working on the rolling over. He arches his back when he is laying down so I think we are pretty close to making some movement!

We got him weighed on Friday and he is now 19lbs 13oz, 25 1/2" long ! I was hoping to clean out my car this weekend and get his new car seat in but I was too tired and I caught my hubbies cold. Jacob still hasn't caught it yet and I'm hoping he doesn't or if he does that it is after Wed cause that is picture day!

We have our last swim class on Tuesday, which I'm kinda sad about - once again just as I was getting to know the other moms the class is over! Wednesday is family picture day, Thursday I am going to go visit my Mom and today we have lunch with the moms from my mom group. Today is my niece's birthday, I bought a card for her but haven't mailed it yet so I will mail it today but she still probably won't get it till Wed?

Our pot luck party went well, some people stayed really late (3am) which made the next day really hard but hubby has been overly eager to do things for me - it's kinda freaking me out!? On Sunday after the party I went downstairs to try and clean up and he kicked me out saying he would clean up, he did the dishes and vacuumed! All night he was jumping every time I needed something, and this morning was kinda the same he woke up and emptied the dishwasher, washed the dishes and asked if he could do anything else?! I'm kinda thinking that he is only doing it cause he feels guilty and doesn't want the guilt talk and I do enjoy all the help but he doesn't seem very happy?

Anyway - I posted a pic of Jacob and his Grandpa, it was from this weekend and I thought it was super cute! You can almost see the love in his Grandpa's face!

Random stuff....

This week seems fairly busy, Monday the "mom's group" decided to meet at one of the swimming pools in Sherwood Park for a swim date. I was the first one there and was starting to wonder if I was going to be the only one to show when finally 15 minutes later another mom showed up and one more about 10 minutes after that but by then Jacob was starting to get hungry and my hands were getting wrinkled (which I hate!) so we had to leave. It was fun to get out though even if we didn't get to socialize too much. I think next week we are going to try and do lunch - which might be even harder to socialize at but that's OK, it gets us out of the house!! :)

I met a girlfriend today for coffee, it was just a short visit - I had Jacob with me and it seems like conversation is just harder to do when the little guy is around? If he's not fussing for food or diaper change then he is sitting there being all cute and we seem to watch him more then talk!? Next time I will have to leave him at home with Dad so I can actually have a conversation, but once again it was still nice to get out considering we woke up this morning to snow!!! Pretty soon it is going to be really cold and I won't feel like going out at all so I will take full advantage of getting out now!

After coffee Jacob and I stopped at Toys R Us and bought a new car seat (a Christmas present from one of the Great-Grandmas). It is a 3 in 1, which means it goes from infant to toddler to booster seat and is rated for 5-80lbs! It seems like a good seat, it isn't really the right material I was looking for (this one is kinda crushed velvet and I was hoping for one that would be a little easier to clean/ wipe if spills happen) but the fabric is washable so if any spills do happen you just have to take all the padding off and wash it. The straps are super easy to adjust and it reclines into 3 positions. The cup holder will also come in handy later on. So I guess I will no longer be using the carrier car seat anymore and from now on I will have to carry Jacob to and from the car! The only part that confuses me is in the winter when it is -30C and you put Jacob in his snow suit are you suppose to take it off in the car to put him in his seat cause they say your not suppose to put the baby in the seat with too thick of clothes on? I don't get it!?

So tomorrow I am hoping to finish painting my cupboard doors and then hubby can hang them before the weekend. Then Thursday we have swim class, my Grandparents are headed to Yuma next week so I promised I would visit them one last time before they go (so that will be Friday) and then we are having a pot luck with a bunch of friends on Sat! It should be fun although I wish I would have made it the weekend after so that more of my friends could make it! I forgot there was already an activity planned with my girlfriends and they can't cancel so it will probably just be mostly hubbies friends here. I was going to book a photo session this week for Christmas photos but the studio I want to go to is booked all week so next Wed we are getting our photos done!

I have also been thinking lots lately about my diet or should I say lack of a diet! I think I have gained 10lbs since the birth of Jacob and it is really starting to get to me! I really miss my pre-pregnancy clothes, but I have no motivation to diet! I wish it was easier to loose the weight! I was thinking about going back on Nutrisystem but we really can't afford it right now and I'm so sick of eating my fruits and veggies! It's funny how when you eat healthy you seem to crave healthy foods but when you eat the crap you crave it too. So now that I have been eating all the foods that are bad for me (like McDonalds and every other fast food joint) I seem to be craving them more and the thought of eating healthy doesn't really interest me but the thought of gaining weight bothers me too!? I wish I had a high metabolism but then that would mean that I would probably have to be really active and I'm just too lazy! he he Soon I will be back on the diet wagon, I was going to start today but then I had an egg Mcmuffin for breakfast and thought that maybe tomorrow will be the day!? Meh - or maybe next week, who am I kidding?! ;)

Lots of first's ...

1st Halloween -- So Jacob celebrated his 1st Halloween and I must say it was kinda fun, not as much fun as it will be when he actually knows what is going on but I took him visiting to a few places close by (My Dad's work and the Grandparents) and by the time we got home I think he already had enough of his costume! But we needed milk so I walked to the store with Jacob and the dog all in costume!! It was fun!

1st Sleep over!! -- Jacob also had his first sleep over at my in laws! We had a banquet to attend for the race track and every time I thought of Jacob I had a drink!! I ended up having 4 wines which really isn't too bad in 10 hours!! But the 4 wines were enough to make me a little tipsy, I don't think I've had a drink since I found out I was pregnant so that would make it a year ago!! We had a good time at the banquet and I'm sure Jacob didn't even really know the difference, except apparently he didn't have a very good time at bath time? I'm not sure if it was the sleep over or the day light savings time but the next day was a little tricky with naps and bedtime?! I think sometimes my FIL gets too excited and almost over stimulates Jacob, he didn't eat half as much as I thought he would at the sleep over and I'm not sure if that was because my FIL kept him so occupied that he never thought about food or if he just wasn't hungry? I do know for sure that he is definitely going to be a kid that won't be able to have a bowel movement unless he is at home cause he never went the whole time he was away but as soon as we walked in the door it was like he knew and went ... a few times! ;)

The last 1st Jacob had this month is his ....

1st diaper rash !! -- Yup - it sucks, it's not too bad but I still feel bad for the little guy. I'm sure it must be uncomfortable?! I'm actually thinking it is from swimming cause that is when it started, and I'm not too sure if it is from his swimming shorts or the chlorine in the water? Every time after swimming I would notice his diaper area would have little red dots and every time it gets worse so now I'm a little paranoid about going tomorrow cause what if it gets even more worse ?? I'm going to put some Vaseline on his diaper area to try and help prevent it from getting worse and I'm kinda thinking that it might be his swim shorts cause if it was the water he would have a rash all over not just in that area? But of course today I went to Walmart and thought I would try to find him a new swim suit but they are not in season so all I could find were winter mitts! There is only 2 weeks left of swimming anyway so I don't want to spend too much on swim gear that he will grow out of in a matter of weeks but if the rash gets worse tomorrow then I don't think I have much of a choice to search for a new suit!?

Tomorrow is a busy day for us, swimming in the morning then the "Mom's group" wants to meet again (I think this is going to be a regular Tues afternoon thing - which is nice) and tomorrow is 10% Tuesday at the grocery store so I will be leaving Jacob with Dad after supper and I will go shopping! I will also be leaving Jacob with Dad on Wed. night (which I also think is going to be a regular outing) so that I can get out and go to my girlfriends for a visit! Last time I left Jacob alone apparently all he did was cry so I think it will be good for him too - he is starting to turn into a "mommas boy" (which is cute now but when he's 20 it's kinda weird?) so I would like him to bond with his Dad a little! Then Thurs is swimming again and Friday will probably be movie night at my hubbies "new friends" house (it is in quotations for a reason that I would rather not mention right now - but some of you already know what that's about). Hubby told me today after I almost cut my leg on the washing machine door that on Sat he would be working on the basement and will move my washing machine into the laundry room!!! WOOT WOOT!! But we'll see if that really happens?! ;)
