Long weekend plans shot!

So my weekend plans were thrown out the window!! It all started Friday, my boss let me go home early which was nice cause I really didn't fell very well ~ loss of appetite and upset tummy. Friday night I decided to have a bath and have a little "me" time, I felt pretty good after the bath but then later that night I felt a lot of tightening and I had to "breathe" through the pain like they taught us in class. I said to hubby ..."I think I just had a contraction?" I was sweating like crazy and just about as fast as the pain started it disappeared? So - no big deal ... right? We head off to bed, then 10 minutes later it happened again, I felt nauseous and hot but once again it went away so I climbed into bed and had a pretty restful sleep. Saturday morning I woke up fairly early, I had plans to go shopping with my Mom for baby stuff and didn't want to miss that. My tummy was a little tender but nothing too weird was happening so I left to go pick up my Mom. I told her about what I thought happened the night before but she told me that these kind of pains were probably natural and at this stage in the game I am bound to be a little more uncomfortable then before. So off we went shopping, first stop Zellers, we loaded up our buggy with all necessities and a few extras, by now it was 11am and I kinda wanted a snack so we headed for a restaurant to sit down for a bit. This is when I started feeling like crap again, my back started to hurt and I broke out into a sweat, then minutes later it was gone? So I had some toast and a fruit bowl and off we went again, second stop Sears. After we loaded up the buggy in Sears I started feeling a little tired so we decided to head home. I was planning on staying and visiting with my Mom for a while maybe even going out for dinner with them but I didn't feel right and decided it was best to head home and lay down for a bit?! Which is exactly what I did when I got home, hubby was out helping his Dad with a fence building project so I crashed on the couch for an hour. After lying down I did feel a bit better but soon the pains started again and I decided to drive to the hospital - no harm in getting checked out I thought!?

Well it's a good thing I did go, I got admitted pretty fast into L&D and they quickly hooked me up to the NST machine only to find out that indeed I was having contractions and they were pretty regular (every 2 - 4 minutes). They took a urine sample as usual and told me that they thought I had a bladder infection which could be causing the contractions. They did an internal to find out that my cervix was "soft" and I was 1-2cm dilated! They did the GBS test and gave me a suppository to try and stop the contractions, then I was admitted! They tried to get an IV into me but had such a hard time finding my vein that now my arm is black an blue, they even had to call the anasteiologist (sp?) in to try and get the IV started~! My weekend was full of cramps and tightening, strong back aches and NST's done every four hours. Eventually my cramps slowed down and by Tuesday they discharged me, I am taking this week off work - really it is only 2 days cause I have a doctor appointment on Friday.

I did find out though that the hospital I plan on giving birth at won't even take me in unless I am over 36 weeks!! So if this baby plans on coming early (like next week) then I might be giving birth at a different hospital then planned with a different doctor that I probably have never met!? So now the rush is on, I need to wash all baby cloths/ blankets/ diapers, last night we set up the stroller and had a look at the car seat. The in laws dropped off our crib and change table that they were storing for us. But I need to "take it easy" so I will be doing all the laundry slowly. I don't think the babies room will be "ready" per say ~ it will have a bed and carpet instead of fresh paint and hardwood floors like we had planned~? But I'm OK with that, I'm sure this baby will not hold it against us that the room was not "ready" for the big arrival!
