Well as per my ticker I am now officially done my 13th week and only 189 days away from my due date!! In just a few more weeks I will be half way there - I think that is amazing! Hopefully after the holidays we will get a start on the basement, I give my hubby till March/ April to finish the basement, which should be lots of time!! And then that will give us May/June to get the nursery all set up! I was looking at cribs on the Internet the other day (from Toys R us) and found one I really like but I was wondering if it might be better to order it on line instead of at the store? With our dollar as good as it is, I noticed that on the .com site the price was about half as much as the .ca site! And there were way more choices on the US site then Canada one! Hubby says it depends on where the crib is made cause we may have to pay brokerage and duty and stuff that would add up to the same amount anyway but I'm thinking that if we are going to order on line we should probably do that right away cause it might take months to get here? Here are some pics of the crib I like:
I really like the fact that the crib grows with the child and it is really the only bed you need to buy your child for at least the first 6 - 8 years of their life!? I also really like the sleigh look to it and the feet on the legs. It is called the "Da Vinci Kalani Crib" on the US site it is $399.99, which I don't think is too bad of a price considering the bed will be used for the first 6 or so years? But I couldn't find this crib on the Canada site so maybe its not even available to us? Even if it was I'm sure it would cost more!!
I'm also pretty sure that you have to buy the side rails separate and probably the bed rails too? The change table that matches this set is also nice, but is an extra $269.99, it sure adds up fast!! I'm not sure if this change table has enough drawer space though and it might be better to go with the bigger dresser/
change table but of course that will cost even more! So many decisions!! :) But fun ones!
Well that's about all for today, I'm not sure if I will be able to post again till after all the festivities so Merry Christmas to everyone!! Hopefully everyone has an excellent holiday!? :)

Happy Holidays!!
Just a few words of advice that I have gotten from friends of mine who are already moms.
For a crib there is one thing that is a MUST...that the front side slide down. Because right after you have the baby and even once the baby gets bigger, bending over the tall side of the crib to put the baby in and out multiple times a night, is very tough, bad on your back and your stomach leaning over like that. (not to mention if you were to happen to have a C-Section!)
Also the bottom should have multiple levels, it should raise up pretty high when the baby is still tiny and then lower down for when the baby gets bigger and can pull him/herself up on the rails.
The last thing that was told to me by multiple people is on the topic of the convertable crib (that changes into a toddler bed/real bed) I loved the style you have pictures of too (but the convertable ones don't have sides that go down...well none of the ones that I saw anyway)
But they all made sense when they said -- if you plan on having more then one kid, don't do the convertable crib, because, by the time the 2nd kid comes around, you will need the crib again, and you won't want to go and buy another crib. Also, in order to turn it into anything other then the crib, you have to buy conversion kits...and they get pricey! Even more expensive then buying a single bed or a small toddler bed. All in all in the long run it is cheaper to buy a regular crib (mine was $199) and then buy a toddler bed, single bed or bunk beds when your little one is bigger.
Now you can completely disregard all of this information if you plan on only having one kid or you love the sled style...to each his/her own!! I just wanted to pass on the information that I learned!!
Also...if you go and register somewhere. Like I know for sure, babiesrus.com (a division of toysrus here in the states) you will get emailed cupons and mailed cupons to get 15% off one item about once a month. We used one of those to buy our dresser and saved like $50! It only took 10 days for our dresser to come in stock to the store and they say it will take about the same amount of time online too. So if you can hold out for a coupon, you can save lots!!
Good luck!! Happy Holidays!!
I have to agree with Carrie in some respects... while the crib/bed you have your eye on is totally GORGEOUS.... you need to be thinking of your back when lifting baby in and out of the crib. Take is from me (and I've had 8 babies) you want a crib that has a drop down side!!!! But ignore us if ya want! Totally your decision. AND MERRY CHIRSTMAS MATE.
