MARCH!! WTH??

So my question is .... WTH happened to February ?? I know it's a short month and all but wow - it seemed to fly by!! Finally I got some new pics to post (yea!!) - above is Jacob listening to my Ipod, he really likes it, we may have to get him his own soon!?

In other news, my weekend was good, busy as usual but not too bad. Friday Jacob had a sleep over at his Grandparents so we got to sleep in on Saturday - it was GREAT!! :D They offered to keep Jacob Saturday while hubby and I went out to my Dads to fix his leaky toilet and have a visit with him but I decided to pick Jacob up and bring him with us, Dad would probably rather see Jacob then us! And I thought I would go visit my girlfriend in St.Albert while out there and my Mom on the way home. But plans didn't quite work out that way, by the time we finished at my Dads he decided he wanted to take us out for lunch it was already after 1pm and Jacob hadn't napped yet. So I knew he would crash after dropping my Dad off, we drove around for a bit and unfortunately my girlfriend also had some running around to do and my Mom didn't answer her phone so we headed home, well actually we headed to Wal Mart to buy some sheets for Jacobs big boy bed!

My Dad had a spare mattress at his house that my nephew used when he had sleepovers at Papa's, he gave it to us which is great cause that saved us from buying a mattress for the upper bunk on Jacobs new bunk bed. Then his mattress that the other Grandparents bought for him was suppose to be delivered on Sunday. I still need to buy one of those safety net things and sheets so off we went shopping! :) We ended up not using the safety net thing and so far Jacob has stayed put and not fallen out of bed! It seemed like more of a hassle then anything so now I have to return it. Sunday his new mattress showed up and so now his room is pretty much done! I figure when he is about 3 we will re-do the room as a theme that he can pick. For now he is pretty excited about his new bed and loves going up the stairs to the upper bunk! I will post pics of it tomorrow.

In regards to weight loss ... what can I say .... not much is going on!? Honestly I'm just not too interested but I'm still trying to not gain. I was so confused when last week I weighed myself and saw a 3lb gain!! I hadn't even cheated... that bad? I honestly didn't understand, so on the weekend I had a bagel for breakfast and lunch with my Dad then on Monday I weighed myself again expecting to see a huge # but instead I had lost those 3lbs!!?? So.... either my scale is messed up or it was just cause TOM is here? So, technically I am back to where I was - no gain ... no loss!? I'm actually really looking forward to the challenge me and a guy at work are having, starting April 1st. I'm hoping that will motivate me and keep me on track, I really would like to kick his butt!! :)

Below are some flowers that were sent to me after my Grandpa passed away. They were all so pretty I had to take a picture and I dried some petals and stems I plan on putting in a vase so I can always remember. I still don't feel like I had closure, since there was no memorial and since he is usually always gone in the winter I still keep thinking that he is down south and will return after Easter!? I'm sure soon reality will set in and it will hurt, getting old sucks! And to think that when I was younger all I wanted to do was be an adult and have my own house and a job!? What was I thinking!?!? :P

Happy St.Patrick's Day

I didn't do much this weekend but spend lots of money!! We bought our insulation for the basement on Saturday morning ~ 20 bags!! And we decided that we should buy our crib and change table, since it was on sale at Toys R Us. The in laws agreed that they were going to buy the crib/ mattress and hubbies Grandma gave us money for the change table, so really we spent other people's money on the weekend! ;) Here are some pics of the crib and change table/ dresser .....

There is also a hutch that you can buy for the change table but I decided that it was just extra money spent and not something we needed so we didn't get the hutch. I would rather spend that money on other things like clothes! :) I also decided on the bedding we are going to use and the paint scheme of the bedroom. I choose the cheaper bedding, it was on sale for a super price and I was able to get lots of accessories for the same price as the "Zanzibar" bedding alone! Here is a pic of the bedding .....

I also got the mobile (which hopefully hubby will be able to attach to the back of the crib), a bedside lamp, a valence for the window and a extra fleecy blanket. I would like to paint the bottom of the room in THIS color (a deep red/ maroon) and the top part of the room THIS color (kind of a beige/ brown) with a chair rail dividing the two colors. I also want to put up a few shelves for pics and stuffies but was unsure if we should match the chair rail and shelves to the crib (which is pretty dark wood ~ cherry) or go with white?! Hubby thinks we should match the shelves and chair rail to the color of the flooring we will be using (probably maple). I just don't want it to look too dark with the dark maroon paint and dark cherry crib/ dresser. O - and if you spent more then $75 at Toys R Us you could buy a wiper warmer for $10!! So we picked up one of those as well, for $10 you might as well! ?

~~ TGIF! ~~

I'm excited for this weekend, I can't wait to do a little shopping and maybe (hopefully) actually buy something!? ;) Tonight we have a 60th birthday party for my hubbies aunt, it is after supper and will probably only be cake and coffee. We won't be staying too late cause hubby has to get up at 5am and leave the house by 5:30am to go get birch. Him and some friends got permits to go cut down their own wood about 3 hours out of town, the permits were only $5 each for a 'cord' of wood and if you were to buy a 'cord' of birch in town it could cost as much as $500! This is way cheaper but they have to do all the work, so he will be gone for probably the entire day Sat.

Hubby tells me that my MIL has already purchased the 'diaper material' - the cloth that goes on the inside of the diaper, not the decorative outside - that is what we are going shopping for tomorrow. Apparently it was on sale so she bought like 40 meters of it, well ...... just over one meter will make 6 diapers!! So I think she went a little over board on the 'diaper material' part - there is enough to make like 240 diapers!!! WOW

I have another decision to think about, the change table. I was looking on the web at different stores and came across this change table that I really like, it is more like a dresser then the typical change table which I think would come in handy later in the kids life and I really like the hutch that you can buy to go with it but there are a few 'issues' I have with it:

1)-There are no rails where you place baby to change them, the only 'anti-roll' protection would be in the changing pad that kinda hugs the baby and has a strap that I'm sure all 1st time mom's use! ;) he he

2)-If you have baby in your arms it may be difficult to get supplies/ change of cloths out from the drawers. Where the typical change table is open so you can just reach down and grab what is needed. Granted you could put things like wipes and diapers on the shelf of the hutch.

And finally .....

3)- Price! The dresser/ hutch combo is $500 for the set where the other change table is only $260. Although I am thinking that you may still need a dresser to keep those tiny socks together so would you really be saving money by buying the regular table?

Sears (one of the larger department stores here) is having their "baby days" sale this weekend which means good deals and probably big crowds. I think we have decided on getting a 4 wheeler stroller with the larger wheels, there was one in their flyer that looked really nice and was on sale for $275. I'm a little paranoid that the 3 wheeler will become tippy when the child gets bigger and I believe that we are the type of parents that probably won't be taking the stroller everywhere we go, we would probably use the stores carts. This however is not my final decision and I will have to actually look at the 4 wheeler and see if it is what I like but it is hard to know without being able to test it out first! You should be able to test drive the stroller you are thinking of purchasing like buying a new car?! ;)

Symmetry

First off I forgot to mention yesterday that I really do appreciate all the helpful hints on picking out a crib, there were a few things mentioned that I hadn't really thought about and I guess with the cribs that convert to beds later none of them would be able to lower cause that is part of the foot board?! I guess I need to decide how much I really want that type of crib but I do also agree that probably by the time the kid is old enough to go in a "big kid" bed we will probably want to get a different "fun" bed. Like if we have a boy I'm pretty sure my hubby wants to get him a car bed and if we have a girl them my hubby might make a bed for her with drawers underneath it like he had as a child?! Although I really like the sleigh bed look and I might be able to convince hubby to be the one to put the baby to bed for the first week or two (till I start to feel better) it would still be a pain if the front can't lower. Once again thanks for the comments, I really enjoy them - keep them coming! ;)

I noticed last night that my body is not very symmetrical and this kinda bothers me!? I looked down at my body and notice that my belly seems to stick out further on the right then the left and my left boob sticks out further then my right?! It's like I'm all twisted - maybe it's cause I'm always sleeping on the same side and it makes my body want to just twist in that direction? Like with babies, if you always put them to bed in the same position then their head can get flat spots - well it's like my belly has a flat spot from always being squished?! I'm the type of person that enjoys symmetry in my life, when I buy candle holders it's always in pairs - never odd numbers, towels are hung in pairs, even numbers are the key to my life!! ;) I'm sure eventually I will become so big that I won't notice one side sticking out further then the other and I'm sure my boobs will even out!? Well at least I can always hope!? ;)

Yesterday I felt pretty crummy all day, and I think I have noticed that a crummy day is usually followed by a good day! So today is good - so far!? :) I'm hoping that yesterday was the last time I get sick till the day I give birth! I've heard that a lot of women will vomit before giving birth, maybe a way of getting rid of any extra fluids in you? I can't wait - I probably say that at least once a week, I wish it was May already!! :)

Happy Hoildays!! :)

Our bowling Christmas party went really good, there was tons of door prizes but we didn't win anything (as usual) even though my FIL had just as many tickets as he is tall!! He probably bought about $30 worth of tickets (at 3 for a dollar) but it was all for a good cause, all the money raised was being donated to a charity. We didn't get out of the bowling alley till midnight so it made for really long night. I wasn't playing too well either, I think I only got my average once!

Well as per my ticker I am now officially done my 13th week and only 189 days away from my due date!! In just a few more weeks I will be half way there - I think that is amazing! Hopefully after the holidays we will get a start on the basement, I give my hubby till March/ April to finish the basement, which should be lots of time!! And then that will give us May/June to get the nursery all set up! I was looking at cribs on the Internet the other day (from Toys R us) and found one I really like but I was wondering if it might be better to order it on line instead of at the store? With our dollar as good as it is, I noticed that on the .com site the price was about half as much as the .ca site! And there were way more choices on the US site then Canada one! Hubby says it depends on where the crib is made cause we may have to pay brokerage and duty and stuff that would add up to the same amount anyway but I'm thinking that if we are going to order on line we should probably do that right away cause it might take months to get here? Here are some pics of the crib I like:

I really like the fact that the crib grows with the child and it is really the only bed you need to buy your child for at least the first 6 - 8 years of their life!? I also really like the sleigh look to it and the feet on the legs. It is called the "Da Vinci Kalani Crib" on the US site it is $399.99, which I don't think is too bad of a price considering the bed will be used for the first 6 or so years? But I couldn't find this crib on the Canada site so maybe its not even available to us? Even if it was I'm sure it would cost more!!

I'm also pretty sure that you have to buy the side rails separate and probably the bed rails too? The change table that matches this set is also nice, but is an extra $269.99, it sure adds up fast!! I'm not sure if this change table has enough drawer space though and it might be better to go with the bigger dresser/ change table but of course that will cost even more! So many decisions!! :) But fun ones!

Well that's about all for today, I'm not sure if I will be able to post again till after all the festivities so Merry Christmas to everyone!! Hopefully everyone has an excellent holiday!? :)
