been too long....

It's been a while since I last updated and not that a bunch of stuff has happened I have been keeping busy!!

We had our race banquet last weekend, it was nice to get out (just the two of us) and hubby even won a trophy!! He won the "drag staff appreciation award", it was the second time he won this trophy and I do believe it was well earned but both of us kinda thought he was going to win a different trophy (one for the most dedicated employee - I forget what it was called but it goes to the employee that always gives 110%).

Jacob has been sleeping better, still waking at least once during the night (except when he had the sleep over at the in laws -- I'm soooo jealous!!). It makes me wonder what I'm doing wrong? Why will he sleep through the night for the in laws but wakes for us every night? I have tried cutting his naps down and I have tried letting him nap longer (thinking that maybe he was over tired?) Hubby and I butt heads over giving him a bottle at 2am, I say we need to maybe let him cry it out OR water down the milk until eventually it is just water. He for whatever reason doesn't like either of those ideas. He thinks that by watering down the milk it will make Jacob bloated!? and he doesn't think that the cries Jacob has are cries that he will fall back asleep from (not that we have ever tried). I'm at my wits end, I get embarrassed when people say "o-well at least he is at the age where you are getting more sleep" or ask how his sleeping is, we got more sleep when he was 6 months old then we do now and I know we HAVE to STOP giving him milk to fall asleep! It's hard when you aren't on the same page!! Maybe hubbies eyes will open soon, he has improved a bit and will now let Jacob cry it out at bedtime but just not at 2am!?

I'm also confused about the H1N1 vaccine!? I'm stuck between getting it or not!? I've heard scary stories from both sides. Hubby doesn't think it is necessary, and I kinda believe that the flu virus changes all the time so even if you do get the H1N1 vaccine you can still get H1N5 virus (which is apparently way worse!). I have never gotten the flu vaccine before and I have never caught the flu so do I take my chances with something that sounds so big!?

I'm taking my Dad shopping next week, he needs some warm clothes and groceries, plus he wanted to buy some Christmas gifts for the kids. He also wants to go shopping for a new recliner. I think it will be too much for one day, for a guy that barely gets out to do all that shopping - I think it will definitely tucker him out! It's good though that he is excited to go shopping and is willing to buy new things for himself, he was always the type that believed if it's not broke don't fix it (or buy new). But he is also talking to me about his funeral arrangements which is kinda weird to me, our family barely talked about small issues never mind talking about death and what our plans are!

Jacob and I went to a Discovery Toy party last night, it was fun, we have been to them before and Jacob enjoys their toys. Tonight I am going out for coffee with the girls (I'm soooo excited!) I'm thinking it might be a late night though!! Then tomorrow I am having a Creative Memories party that I was kinda roped into having but if it gets me free stuff then it's all good! Saturday is Halloween and the Mom group is trying to organize a party, I also want to take Jacob to a few houses 'trick or treating' then we have to be home in time to help hand out candy at our house!

On the weight loss front ... I'm sure you've probably noticed my tickers haven't budged for a while!? It's hard when life is so hectic and I want to spend my evenings/ weekends with Jacob. He just isn't really into sitting in a stroller for a half hour or more so I can go for a walk and pretty soon it is going to be so cold out that I don't think I will want to take him out for a walk! I think I need to get a small TV and set it up in the basement beside my treadmill. It's just frustrating, it seems like I know all the things that I'm "suppose" to do with weight loss and weaning Jacob off the bottle but they are so hard to do.

Random stuff....

This week seems fairly busy, Monday the "mom's group" decided to meet at one of the swimming pools in Sherwood Park for a swim date. I was the first one there and was starting to wonder if I was going to be the only one to show when finally 15 minutes later another mom showed up and one more about 10 minutes after that but by then Jacob was starting to get hungry and my hands were getting wrinkled (which I hate!) so we had to leave. It was fun to get out though even if we didn't get to socialize too much. I think next week we are going to try and do lunch - which might be even harder to socialize at but that's OK, it gets us out of the house!! :)

I met a girlfriend today for coffee, it was just a short visit - I had Jacob with me and it seems like conversation is just harder to do when the little guy is around? If he's not fussing for food or diaper change then he is sitting there being all cute and we seem to watch him more then talk!? Next time I will have to leave him at home with Dad so I can actually have a conversation, but once again it was still nice to get out considering we woke up this morning to snow!!! Pretty soon it is going to be really cold and I won't feel like going out at all so I will take full advantage of getting out now!

After coffee Jacob and I stopped at Toys R Us and bought a new car seat (a Christmas present from one of the Great-Grandmas). It is a 3 in 1, which means it goes from infant to toddler to booster seat and is rated for 5-80lbs! It seems like a good seat, it isn't really the right material I was looking for (this one is kinda crushed velvet and I was hoping for one that would be a little easier to clean/ wipe if spills happen) but the fabric is washable so if any spills do happen you just have to take all the padding off and wash it. I posted a pic of it below:

The straps are super easy to adjust and it reclines into 3 positions. The cup holder will also come in handy later on. So I guess I will no longer be using the carrier car seat anymore and from now on I will have to carry Jacob to and from the car! The only part that confuses me is in the winter when it is -30C and you put Jacob in his snow suit are you suppose to take it off in the car to put him in his seat cause they say your not suppose to put the baby in the seat with too thick of clothes on? I don't get it!?

So tomorrow I am hoping to finish painting my cupboard doors and then hubby can hang them before the weekend. Then Thursday we have swim class, my Grandparents are headed to Yuma next week so I promised I would visit them one last time before they go (so that will be Friday) and then we are having a pot luck with a bunch of friends on Sat! It should be fun although I wish I would have made it the weekend after so that more of my friends could make it! I forgot there was already an activity planned with my girlfriends and they can't cancel so it will probably just be mostly hubbies friends here. I was going to book a photo session this week for Christmas photos but the studio I want to go to is booked all week so next Wed we are getting our photos done!

I have also been thinking lots lately about my diet or should I say lack of a diet! I think I have gained 10lbs since the birth of Jacob and it is really starting to get to me! I really miss my pre-pregnancy clothes, but I have no motivation to diet! I wish it was easier to loose the weight! I was thinking about going back on Nutrisystem but we really can't afford it right now and I'm so sick of eating my fruits and veggies! It's funny how when you eat healthy you seem to crave healthy foods but when you eat the crap you crave it too. So now that I have been eating all the foods that are bad for me (like McDonalds and every other fast food joint) I seem to be craving them more and the thought of eating healthy doesn't really interest me but the thought of gaining weight bothers me too!? I wish I had a high metabolism but then that would mean that I would probably have to be really active and I'm just too lazy! he he Soon I will be back on the diet wagon, I was going to start today but then I had an egg Mcmuffin for breakfast and thought that maybe tomorrow will be the day!? Meh - or maybe next week, who am I kidding?! ;)

Time to get packed!!

The pressure is on now to get my bag packed! At our last baby class on Monday we had a "surprise" visitor, it was one of the couples in our class - they had their baby last week!! It was four weeks early! Which makes me realize that anything can happen and maybe I should really get on that bag packing thing!? At least now I have a baby bag to pack! ;) I feel like we (I mean hubby - he he) got lots done yesterday, when I go home from work the front yard was nicely mowed and trimmed (same with the back yard) and hubby greeted me at the door asking if I wanted to go out for dinner!? Well you don't have to ask me twice, I'm always up to going out for dinner!! :) After dinner we cleaned out the "soon to be" baby room, I put away all my scrapbook stuff and hubby got started on priming the room! It is now officially primed, it looks funny though cause we had to buy a tinted primer for the bottom of the room (that I want to paint deep red) so now the top part of the room is regular white primer and the bottom is bright pink!! I think hubby must have been feeling a little guilty cause yesterday was probably the last time I will see/ talk to him till next week. He will be busy this week with the "Pinks" guy coming to town and having the "arm drop" races this weekend. So we won't be able to put a first coat on the walls till probably next Tuesday! :o

My house is a complete disaster right now, with the basement half finished and still messy there is no where to put anything down there so everything from the "soon to be" baby room went into the office which is now so full you can't even sit in the chair. Then I had to put some baby stuff in the kitchen along with the dogs toy box and some of my scrapbook stuff had to be shoved under the bed - just to get them out of the way! I think you could probably write your name on almost every piece of furniture and don't even get me started on the bathrooms!! I'm still waiting for this "nesting" thing everyone talks about? Maybe I won't get my sudden burst of energy and go crazy with the cleaning? I hope I do, I really need to clean but I'm just to tired after work and the only way I can clean now is if I go really slow and take my time!?

I had to throw away all my low fat banana muffins this morning, when I went to grab one for my lunch I noticed there was fur on them!? I guess now that summer is here I can no longer leave things like that out on the counter, I just assumed they would be like cookies - you leave those in the cupboard? So now after work I need to stop at the grocery store and pick up a few things for lunches. I would also like to plant my flowers tonight and maybe do a load of laundry, since I will be home alone. I also need to still pick up a few nessecities for baby (although I'm not too sure when I'll have time for that) -- I need a diaper pail still and I forgot to get a change table pad cover. O - and I need a few bottles (just in case the breastfeeding thing doesn't work very well).

Long weekend plans shot!

So my weekend plans were thrown out the window!! It all started Friday, my boss let me go home early which was nice cause I really didn't fell very well ~ loss of appetite and upset tummy. Friday night I decided to have a bath and have a little "me" time, I felt pretty good after the bath but then later that night I felt a lot of tightening and I had to "breathe" through the pain like they taught us in class. I said to hubby ..."I think I just had a contraction?" I was sweating like crazy and just about as fast as the pain started it disappeared? So - no big deal ... right? We head off to bed, then 10 minutes later it happened again, I felt nauseous and hot but once again it went away so I climbed into bed and had a pretty restful sleep. Saturday morning I woke up fairly early, I had plans to go shopping with my Mom for baby stuff and didn't want to miss that. My tummy was a little tender but nothing too weird was happening so I left to go pick up my Mom. I told her about what I thought happened the night before but she told me that these kind of pains were probably natural and at this stage in the game I am bound to be a little more uncomfortable then before. So off we went shopping, first stop Zellers, we loaded up our buggy with all necessities and a few extras, by now it was 11am and I kinda wanted a snack so we headed for a restaurant to sit down for a bit. This is when I started feeling like crap again, my back started to hurt and I broke out into a sweat, then minutes later it was gone? So I had some toast and a fruit bowl and off we went again, second stop Sears. After we loaded up the buggy in Sears I started feeling a little tired so we decided to head home. I was planning on staying and visiting with my Mom for a while maybe even going out for dinner with them but I didn't feel right and decided it was best to head home and lay down for a bit?! Which is exactly what I did when I got home, hubby was out helping his Dad with a fence building project so I crashed on the couch for an hour. After lying down I did feel a bit better but soon the pains started again and I decided to drive to the hospital - no harm in getting checked out I thought!?

Well it's a good thing I did go, I got admitted pretty fast into L&D and they quickly hooked me up to the NST machine only to find out that indeed I was having contractions and they were pretty regular (every 2 - 4 minutes). They took a urine sample as usual and told me that they thought I had a bladder infection which could be causing the contractions. They did an internal to find out that my cervix was "soft" and I was 1-2cm dilated! They did the GBS test and gave me a suppository to try and stop the contractions, then I was admitted! They tried to get an IV into me but had such a hard time finding my vein that now my arm is black an blue, they even had to call the anasteiologist (sp?) in to try and get the IV started~! My weekend was full of cramps and tightening, strong back aches and NST's done every four hours. Eventually my cramps slowed down and by Tuesday they discharged me, I am taking this week off work - really it is only 2 days cause I have a doctor appointment on Friday.

I did find out though that the hospital I plan on giving birth at won't even take me in unless I am over 36 weeks!! So if this baby plans on coming early (like next week) then I might be giving birth at a different hospital then planned with a different doctor that I probably have never met!? So now the rush is on, I need to wash all baby cloths/ blankets/ diapers, last night we set up the stroller and had a look at the car seat. The in laws dropped off our crib and change table that they were storing for us. But I need to "take it easy" so I will be doing all the laundry slowly. I don't think the babies room will be "ready" per say ~ it will have a bed and carpet instead of fresh paint and hardwood floors like we had planned~? But I'm OK with that, I'm sure this baby will not hold it against us that the room was not "ready" for the big arrival!

33 week doctor appt.

Today I had my 33rd week doctor appointment at 10:00am, so I came in to work for an hour then left and now I'm back at work! The appointment went well, my regular doctor was back from her vacation so things were a little slower then last time, my BP was 127/77 (not too bad), no protein or sugar in the urine and babies HB was 130bpm (a little low but maybe it was nap time?) Baby is still head down which is good but doesn't really matter too much at this point cause there is still lots of time for baby to do summer salts!? I asked the doctor about episiotomy's, which we were learning about in baby class, I would really like to avoid this procedure and only have it done if baby is in distress - which is exactly what she told me she does (only if baby is in distress). I booked my next four appointments, so the next one is in two weeks and then I go every week after that!! Next appointment is the GBS test (Group B Strep), which I have heard is common to test positive for and can be very harmful for the baby so if you test positive you will get shots every four hours before baby arrives.

There is racing again tonight and all weekend for that matter! However hubby decided to go on a quad rally out of town tomorrow instead of working at the track! :o I however will still go out and work Sat/ Sun, it's extra money - which is always nice~!! Speaking of money, I got my tax refund in the mail the other day, also for the full amount I figured out!! :) So that makes hubbies return over $1300 and my return was over $1900 - pretty good if I say so myself!! Still haven't got my pink slippy thing so I can get my registration but I can always just go in and pay for a sticker, it's not a huge deal. I also forgot to mention that the other day when I was grocery shopping I picked up some "Grapple's" they look like a apple but smell like grape Kool-Aid and have a slight grape flavor to them. They are pretty good, kinda like the apple pears or Asian pears - really juicy and not too sweet, although I'm not sure if I will buy them again - you only get 4 for $4 ? Kinda expensive and I think I like the apple pears better, but these were nice for a change? I've been working on my lists, one for what to pack in my bag, one for babies bag and one list of things I still need to buy in order to pack our bags! The lists really aren't' as long as I thought they would be which makes me wonder ..... am I forgetting something ? I don't really know what the "must haves" are? You know the things you must have before baby comes home! ? So far I've come up with:

1- car seat

2- diapers/ rubber pants

3- sleepers/ under shirts

4- coming home outfit

5- wipes/ lotions

6- bottles/ formula (just in case)

7- receiving blankets

and that's about all!? I don't want to buy too much until after my baby shower (which I'm still not sure if I will have one?) So if you think I missed something please help!! ;)

Weekend review ....

Well we had a fairly busy weekend and I know I didn't get my belly pic posted .... hopefully tonight! ;) Instead we had friends over on Friday night, Saturday we had a meeting at the race track with all the employees that are returning. It was nice to see our "summer" friends again and of course everyone was curious to see just how big I am, they haven't seen me since we made our announcement and I wasn't even showing yet! The meeting lasted a lot longer then I thought it was going to be, all the boys ended up getting put to work while the girls stood around and talked! ;) By the time we left it was almost 2 and I was starving so we went for lunch with everyone and didn't get home till close to 4pm!! Sunday I managed to get some of my housework done but since it was so nice out I decided to leave my indoor chores and do stuff outside. I cleaned my car, inside and out, did a little racking, went for a haircut and went shopping to Costco and the bookstore. I picked up a baby name book so we can finally maybe get one picked out? And I picked up "Life Laughs" by Jenny McCartney ~ the same author as "Belly Laughs", it was on sale for $5.00 and I really liked the other book so I figured I couldn't go wrong! ;)

Happy St.Patrick's Day

I didn't do much this weekend but spend lots of money!! We bought our insulation for the basement on Saturday morning ~ 20 bags!! And we decided that we should buy our crib and change table, since it was on sale at Toys R Us. The in laws agreed that they were going to buy the crib/ mattress and hubbies Grandma gave us money for the change table, so really we spent other people's money on the weekend! ;) Here are some pics of the crib and change table/ dresser .....

There is also a hutch that you can buy for the change table but I decided that it was just extra money spent and not something we needed so we didn't get the hutch. I would rather spend that money on other things like clothes! :) I also decided on the bedding we are going to use and the paint scheme of the bedroom. I choose the cheaper bedding, it was on sale for a super price and I was able to get lots of accessories for the same price as the "Zanzibar" bedding alone! Here is a pic of the bedding .....

I also got the mobile (which hopefully hubby will be able to attach to the back of the crib), a bedside lamp, a valence for the window and a extra fleecy blanket. I would like to paint the bottom of the room in THIS color (a deep red/ maroon) and the top part of the room THIS color (kind of a beige/ brown) with a chair rail dividing the two colors. I also want to put up a few shelves for pics and stuffies but was unsure if we should match the chair rail and shelves to the crib (which is pretty dark wood ~ cherry) or go with white?! Hubby thinks we should match the shelves and chair rail to the color of the flooring we will be using (probably maple). I just don't want it to look too dark with the dark maroon paint and dark cherry crib/ dresser. O - and if you spent more then $75 at Toys R Us you could buy a wiper warmer for $10!! So we picked up one of those as well, for $10 you might as well! ?

Hump day! ;)

I'm suppose to have another doctors appointment today but I'm thinking that my doctor may want to reschedule? Last night when I was out grocery shopping I guess she called and told hubby it wasn't important and that she would try to get a hold of me at work today? So now I'm kinda freaked out as to why she would be calling me at home but since she said it wasn't important it makes me think that maybe she needs to reschedule? Which would also kinda suck cause I really need to see her today, I think I may need a presciption for an infection? I feel like I am a one of those case book files, you know the ones where if it is "common" in pregnancy it will happen to me! My head cold is starting to go away but I have this burning itch that I have a feeling I know what it may be and I'm not liking it too much! :( Of course I Googled it and they recommend eatting less sugar, more yogurt and try to "air out the goods" more. he he So that's another thing to add to my diet list .... now I have to watch my sugar intake! I wonder who ever said "the joys of pregnancy" actually ment it or were they being sarcastic? I sure would like to know what these 'joys' are! ! ;)

Grocery shopping was really good, I was there for almost 2 hours!!! There were a few things I couldn't find like turkey breast, ground turkey and I had no idea where to find sesame seeds!? The buggy was so full, I don't think it's ever been that full but because they were giving you 15% off it ended up costing just as much as usual! I think this weekend I will make some blueberry banana muffins, granola bars and one of the casserols. I'm curious to try the recipe that calls for buckwheat, I don't think I've ever had buckwheat but I remember in school one year a classmate dressed up as Buckwheat - it was funny! he he

I have a pretty busy weekend planned - Saturday we need to go out to St.Albert and babysit my niece and nephew for a few hours, I want to do the baking/ cooking, on Sunday my Mom and I are going to a Welcome Wagon for expecting moms and hopefully we will be able to get over to my hubbies Grandmas to borrow her dehydrater so I can make some banana chips and healthy snacks. I also should probably squeeze in a little house cleaning as well. O - and I also need a oil change on my car so hopefully hubby will have time to get that done!? I doubt all this will happen, hopefully our Internet provider will be coming by tonight between 4 and 6 to fix our connection, so by the time I get home it beter be fixed or I'm going to be very mad!! I really want to post my pics for all of you~!! Hopefully if everything works out then you will be seeing the pics tomorrow! ;)

No sleep = very grumpy! :(

I don't think I slept for more then 4 hours last night, I just couldn't fall asleep? I was debating getting up and watching some TV to try and get drowsy but instead I just lay there. So now I am very grumpy today, not only because I have had no sleep but because our internet was still down and I can not post my pics!! :( Hubby was on the phone with the internet company last night to try and get it fixed but they are so useless, like they don't care! It pisses me off cause it is a service that I have paid for and now I can't even use it!

Tonight is grocery shopping day (first Tues of the month), I get to go by myself cause my hubby is expecting someone to come by and can't reach him to let him know he might not be home so I just said I would go by myself. I actually like to go by myself cause then I can take my time and not feel rushed, I just don't really like pushing the heavy cart which usually has a broken wheel making it impossible to turn corners! ;) I have a lot of things to get that I don't normally buy cause I want to make some of the new recipes so it might take me longer to find these items.

I have a doctors appointment tomorrow afternoon that I am actually kinda excited to go to. I believe my weight loss has stopped, I weighed myself this morning and I am up a pound so I suppose that is good news?! It's hard to find that happy medium of not loosing but not putting on too much weight!? Hopefully it will get nicer out soon and I will take the dog out more and get my arse off the couch! ;)

The spell check thing hasn't been working for me lately on this blog so hopefully I'm not making too many errors? Other then that ..... not too much else is going on?

~~ MIA ~~

I know I've been away for awhile, so this may be a long post - I guess I will start with the good news....

Last weekend hubby went up north to get fire wood so me and his mom went shopping, it was a good day and we found lots of things I liked. However I didn't want to purchase anything until my hubby saw them and also agreed they were nice. So the only thing we purchased that day was fabric for the diapers and my MIL bought a "bouncy chair" for the baby, it is the jungle themed one with a waterfall for baby to look at (very cute). So on Sunday I took my hubby back to all the stores that we had went to and showed him what I wanted to purchase, of course he agreed and we ended up getting a bunch of stuff at Sears. We bought the stroller - a four wheeler one that was super easy to collapse and also fairly light weight, a booster chair that reclines so you can feed baby (instead of having a high chair), a change table pad, some receiving blankets and washcloths, a teddy bear, hairbrush and nail clipper set and a baby monitor with a motion detector - so if baby stops breathing it will sound an alarm. It was kinda like a starter kit they had put together and if you bought it all as one you saved $100!

Sunday night is when all the bad stuff happened -- after dinner I started having stomach pains, high up in my diaphragm area - it almost felt like there was an elastic band wrapped very tightly bellow my boobs. So I figured it was indigestion or gas and took a bath to try and relax but after my bath the feeling was still there and it started to get worse. I felt like I was too hot, hubby thought I had my bath too hot but I don't think t was any different then before. Hubby finally went out and started the car, we were on our way to emergency! Luckily we do live fairly close to a hospital so it didn't take long to get there and the waiting room was empty so we got in fast. I think they thought was having a heart attach cause they hooked me up to oxygen and got out a ECG (?) machine to see what my heart was doing. By now I had broken out into a cold clammy sweat and could not get comfy for the life of me. think it was the nurse's first day cause she had a hard time working the ECG machine thing and she couldn't get an IV in. My hand is all bruised where she poked me 5 times! She also had a hard time knowing what to look for when listening for the babies heart beat, she had it and it was nice and loud but she kept saying "oh that's not it" ! ? WTF ? They put some morphine and gravol in me and we waited a few more hours till I started feeling better then they told me I could leave, by now it was 1:30am ! Needless to say I called in sick the next day but the misery didn't stop there!

Monday seemed to be going good, I had no pain .... till after lunch! All I had was vegetable soup but about an hour after I ate it the pain had come back, I called my hubby at work to tell him the pain was back and he told me to either all his mom to come get me or just head to Emergency again. So I drove myself there (I figured it would be faster) - I kinda pushed my way to the front of the line cause they were really busy and I was able to get in right away. They took blood tests and asked if I wanted more morphine but I refused, the pan had seemed to not be as bad as when I first got there. After waiting about 3 hours they finally took me for an ultrasound to see if I had GALLSTONES, sure enough there they were - looked like lots to me!? The only good part was that I got to see a sneak peak of baby!! It was so cute, I could see the little heart beating away and she said everything looked good with baby so that made me happy. Then about 3 hours later they told me that they were going to admit me!! And they were considering surgery!! Which I guess is apparently safest in the 2nd trimester but there is still risk of loosing the baby. Finally at 1:30am I got my room, on the surgical ward so I was still unsure if they were considering that as an option!? I was on a "sipping liquids" only diet for the first 2 days, I ended up having a mild cause of jondous (sp?) cause my liver was inflamed but that cleared up and I was finally able to have food again on Thursday! They decided not to give me surgery and to just pump me full of antibiotics and IV but as soon as I have this baby I will have to get my gallbladder removed!

While I was in there I had lots of visitors, which was nice - the days went by faster. My girlfriends brought me this book to read "Belly Laughs", which I have heard good things about and was super excited to read, so after everyone left that night I read the whole book! It was great, so funny and just quick short reads so if you wanted to put it down you could ... but I couldn't!

So now I am on a strict Fat Free diet! So much for being able to eat what ever I wanted to cause I'm going to get fat anyway!! :( I have a doctors appointment on Tuesday with my regular doctor and then I will probably be going back to work on Wed (depending on what she says). We also have our ultrasound scheduled for Friday so maybe they can see if I might have 'passed' the stones cause that would get rid of a lot of my worry! I'm just so scared to eat, I mean I had an attack off of Fat Free Vegetable soup so it makes me think that it could happen at any time ... Fat Free or not! ? I now take my time eating meals and what would once take me only a half hour to eat now takes over an hour cause I'm so scared of feeling that pain again! Now I just have to deal with this for another 21 weeks (or so) and then after baby is born I will have the surgery to remove my Gallbladder! That should be fun .... dealing with a newborn, had just given birth and I have to recover from surgery!! ! :( Have I mentioned how much I hate being pregnant lately!? This better be a healthy baby!! ;)

Took a day off!

So I took a sick day yesterday to try and get better, 100% better - which I think I do feel today? However I now feel guilty and that is only because the other guy that is suppose to be here did not show up yesterday either (he was on a pilot run) ! Which means my boss was all by himself!! Now we aren't that busy of a store but we do still have rush moments where the lines are all lit up. He knew that this other guy wasn't going to be here when I told him Monday night that I would not be in but he didn't tell me cause he figured I needed the day off too ? He is a good boss and I wish he would have told me that "dip sh*t" wasn't going to be here cause I would have come in, it's not like my job is that hard!? My boss also told me today that this other guy told him that he has chosen his pilot truck job over this job and only wants to work here on a part time basis. Now I'm not sure what this means for me? It could be good news or bad - I could be getting a promotion but that might mean more hours!? We will have to see what comes of this?! Needless to say "dip sh*t" is off again today!

So I took it pretty easy yesterday and didn't do too much, made some cinnamon buns, did a little laundry and that's about it. I think this weekend I will go shopping with my MIL, she wants to get material for the diapers that hubbies aunt is making and I want to go find a stroller and price out cribs. My hubby is going out of town this weekend anyway so I will be home alone. And even though I really need to dust and clean the bathroom, shopping sounds like more fun!! ;)

I think I am finally at the "TUMS" stage in this pregnancy, I didn't really need them before but since I had that stomach flu thing it seems that TUMS really help to settle and get rid of some of the gas pains!? I suspect that baby has just gotten bigger and has now pushed my stomach up into my diaphragm. I find that I get fuller faster and don't feel like eating as much as before - which is good I guess! ;) Maybe I won't gain as much on my next visit!

Back with a vengeance! :(

** WARNING - may contain adult content! Not recommended for the queasy, may contain TMI **

Just when I thought I could start enjoying being pregnant I get hit with the worst case of morning sickness!! Actually I kinda think it was a case of the 24hr stomach flu cause there is no way that morning sickness could be that bad! ? I don't think ?! Friday at work I had my afternoon snack, a pear, seems pretty innocent but not half an hour after eating it I was in the washroom, first time ever that I have gotten sick at work!? I just assumed it was the baby telling me it doesn't like pears and decided that I would still go to the scrap booking party that I had been looking forward to all week! So I headed to St.Albert still feeling a little ill, stopped for supper - probably not the best choice (Taco Time) but I had a craving for those little tator tots! ;) It took me almost an hour to finish supper which is very unusual for me and headed to the scrapbook party. When I got their I still felt a little green but no worse then regular morning sickness, then it hit me - I think I was in the washroom every half hour! The lady had a very nice house - too bad I made a mess of her bathroom!! I felt so bad, I really wanted to do my craft but I felt so sick I just couldn't stick around, I had to leave. I got home just in time to get to the washroom again! I was so exhausted, my stomach hurt, I couldn't even keep water down! I was up all night, every hour - in the morning I tried to stomach some toast but that didn't last then finally for lunch almost exactly 24hrs after my pear snack we had chicken noodle soup for lunch and I was finally able to keep that down! I was starving - I hadn't eaten for 24 hours but I knew I had to take it slow. I still feel like I need to catch up from the lack of food baby had but my stomach does not want me to indulge too much (which is good I suppose). In total I think I got sick 9 times !! Which is why I believe it was the stomach flu and not morning sickness.

So I was a little concerned that because it was the flu that I wouldn't be able to attend my niece's 1st birthday party on Sunday! I didn't want to make her sick, but I felt better Saturday and Sunday seemed to be good so we went. She was so cute in her little party dress, she didn't really get into the cake too much - she isn't the type of kid that likes to get too dirty. She got lots of clothes which guess she needs but I just got her the gift card. When I was picking up her gift card I thought I would check out the new super Wal-mart's baby section but I ended up just walking through it aimlessly. I really wanted to buy something but there was nothing that I thought I should buy plus it was hard to find stuff that wasn't gender specific. Plus the more I walked around the more I felt like I was shopping for someone else's baby, I felt like I didn't really belong in that department!? How weird is that!? Maybe I don't quite believe that it will be me squeezing this melon out? I'm sure after I actually get to see the baby on the ultrasound I will believe it more!? I hope!? ;)

~~ TGIF ! ~~

My girlfriends are planning a scrapbook party thing today, although I think we are going to make a card instead of a scrapbook page this time!? It is called "Close to my Heart" and apparently according to them there are lots of things that I will be interested in! I like scrap booking but I usually get all my stuff from "Creative Memories". I went to one of their shows and was sold on their product right away and granted I do think that a lot of there stuff is over priced it is still guaranteed not to ruin your photos. I don't want to do all that work just to dig out my scrapbook 10 years from now and find out all my photos have faded and fallen out of the book! So I guess I will see what this new place has to offer, I looked on their website but I don't think websites do justice for this kind of stuff, you actually have to see the product and how it works! I think the party starts at 7pm so I will just head straight out to St.Albert after work, stop for a bite to eat and if I have time I really need a hair cut! Hubby has plans tonight anyway so I would have been sitting at home alone and bored anyway, so I'm very excited to get out of the house on a Friday night!! :)

Saturday I need to go to Wal-mart, a place that I rarely stop at - not because I don't like shopping there, it's the parking and the crowds that turn me off from shopping there. So I have a list of things I need plus I need to get my niece a gift for her 1st birthday, probably a gift card unless I see something really cute! I am also thinking about doing some price shopping for myself, I want to start looking for a stroller and I found one in the Sears flyer that I like but there was no price on it, it just said it was on sale!? I think I'm kinda picky when it comes to the stroller, I want something that has big wheels (but not too big that they get in the way at stores) one that will go over bumps when I take the baby for walks, and I want one that has the carrier with it for a reasonable price of course!?

This brown one was the one 'on sale' in the Sears catalog, it looks nice, the wheels aren't quite as big as a "jogger" stroller but still bigger then a regular stroller. On the website this stroller was priced at $390. This blue one was also on the website and is very similar to the brown one (at least I can't tell the difference) but it is only $280 ? Then I also saw this black one with four big tires instead of three which might be better and have less of a 'tipping' factor but was way more money, $480 for this one!
So maybe some of you that have already purchased your strollers could give me a little advice on what to look for when deciding what stroller to get. Maybe mention things you like or disliked about the one you bought? Do you think the four wheeler is better then the three? Is it worth it to spend more money now or is it still going to wear out in the same amount of time? What is the expectant life span of a stroller? So many things to consider and look at!? I just don't have any idea! :)

Weekend Review

I had an excellent weekend with a few highlights. Friday night we decided to take our "fur baby" for a car ride and go to our cities "Candy Cane Lane", which is about 2 km of house's on one street that have been known to decorate their house's really fancy and over the years has been named Candy Cane Lane. Although I don't think the people living on this street do as much as they have in the past and there are still a few house's that don't have lights up at all. But it is a free thing to do with your family in the winter and all they ask is that you bring a donation for the food bank. There are a few house's that still go all out and really decorate their place, which makes it fun! After that we went to see another house on the north side of Edmonton that has been known to light up the whole street, it was all done up this year too.

On Saturday I had to go give blood for all my blood tests, which ended up being a little hassle cause I didn't know where the clinic was. I also wanted to do a little more shopping for mat.
clothes but when I went to get my Visa I could not find it anywhere!!! :o I ended up grabbing a different Visa card that is suppose to be for emergencies only but I figured this was a good enough emergency!! ;) So as I was getting the 4 tubes of blood taken I was trying to rack my brain of where I had left my Visa, it is kind of a bad time of the year to loose your Visa! The last time I had it was when I was shopping with my mom last weekend but I never used it cause she bought everything! I did however convince my Mom that I should buy supper and I used it then! So I decided I would call the restaurant and see if maybe I had left it there and sure enough.... I had! So off I went to go get it, on the other end of the city close to my Mom's. I figured since I was in the neighborhood I would stop in for a visit with her. We ended up going shopping together but this time we went to Motherhood Maternity. It was a nice store but super tiny, but I think I bought just as much as I did at Thyme but for half the price! I did however like the way Thyme's jeans fit better but Motherhood had some good deals on t-shirts.

That's about all I did on Sat., by the time I go home it was pretty late. Sunday we went visiting and I got a little bit of house work done and tons of laundry finished! I can hardly believe that Christmas is just next week! I wrapped the small amount of gifts we have bought for the kids but I still need to get some tissue paper for the gift bags. I got on the scale this morning ... 179.2lbs - I suppose that's not bad, although I sure feel a lot bigger then only having gained 8lbs? Oh- My Mom also got me some "Preggo Pop Drops" when we were out shopping, they are really good. I'm not totally convinced that they reduce nauseousness but they are quite tasty!! :)

Good and Bad .....

So just as hubby was about to go start my car on Sat. morning to go shopping my Mom called, she had fallen the day before and hurt her knee - she didn't think she could go shopping! :( Well I wasn't about to go by myself cause then this would mean that I would have to tackle the mall twice so we finally figured out that her "man friend" would go to their storage unit and get her wheelchair that she used a bit last year but has since been using a walker. But then they were worried about me lifting the chair in and out of the car so we decided that her friend would come with us. We got to the mall at about 10am and it was actually fairly empty!? Our first stop was Jacob Jr. where we bought gift cards for my brothers wife's daughter, then we found one of the maternity stores that we wanted to check out, Thyme Maternity. The service wasn't so great when we first walked in but then the lady quickly spotted us and came over to explain the sizes and different styles. She kept grabbing a bunch of different things for me to try on and in no time my dressing room was full! The did have a bunch of sales on, mostly buy one get the second for a discounted price. I thought my Mom was just going to buy me a outfit or give me $100 to spend but when it came time to buy she put it all on her Visa!! I didn't have too pay for any of it - I feel so spoiled loved! he he I ended up getting one pair of jeans, a pair of black pants, two t-shirts, two nice blouse tops, a cover up thing to keep my arms warm, a nice warm sweater, two bras, 4 pairs of undies and a sample pack of their creams. (I think that was all) It ended up costing way more then I had planned on but we did save almost $100 from all the deals and I got $25 gift cards for every $100 we spent. It was fun but we were there for two hours! I felt bad for my mom's friend he must have been so bored! Then we went for lunch and checked out a few more stores in the mall and headed to the toy store. I found a couple gifts for my nephew so
I'm almost done! We headed back to my Mom's for a little visit which ended up being supper as well and found out that my niece who is only 11 months old was in the hospital again! She was in the hospital at 7 weeks because she had RSV and now she was back in there cause they found her blue after her nap.

I finally got a hold of my brother (without our phones disconnecting us) when we both got home around 9pm Sat. night. He said that my niece seemed to be doing good now and was discharged from the hospital but they had to go get some asthma medicine. One of the side affects from having RSV as a child is that they usually develop asthma so my brother and his wife already knew she had asthma but this time there was no warning of a attack? She was a little sick with what they thought was the flu and then really tired the next day which they assumed was because of the flu symptoms. Then they put her down for her nap and when they went to check on her her lips were blue and feet and hands were purple! They quickly took her to the Hospital were the nurses had a hard time trying to get blood so they did a chest x-ray which confirmed it was a asthma attack. Now they have to go see a specialist to figure out why there were no symptoms prior to the attack - no wheezing or anything~?

Other then that my weekend was pretty lazy - I didn't do hardly any house cleaning. I'm excited for my new clothes and can hardly wait to wear them, I thought I would try and go as far as I can in my "fat" jeans but this morning when I tried putting on my "fat" jeans fresh out of the dryer .... they were a little too tight so I might end up wearing them sooner then I thought! I think I will get one more pair of jeans and maybe a few more tops but I can always do that after Christmas when the malls aren't so busy. I never did end up checking out Motherhood Maternity cause I was too tired from the first store so I would still like to check out that store! The lady at the store recommended that none of their clothes go into the dryer - she said they should be hung of laid flat to dry! Because of the spandex material she said it will keep them in better shape for longer. So I guess I will have to figure out where I am going to hang or lay them to dry! ?

TGIF!

Yesterday was a good day was a really nice day, I got to leave work at 1:00 and headed home to have a quick visit with my hubby, then I was off again to met my MIL and cousin at 2:30 at her house. We got out to Morinville around 3:30 and finished our candle shopping by 4:30! There seemed to be the same junkie stuff that was there every other year - the stuff that no one wants to buy! She had a deal this year on her wax (buy 4 boxes get one free) so I bought some tea lights. Then we went for dinner to this little family diner in St.Albert and we were home by 6:00! I could have even gone bowling with hubby if I wanted - but of course I opted to stay home and watch all the shows I usually miss out on (CSI and ER). It was a good day - too bad it wasn't Friday and I would be in my weekend now instead of being back at work! ;)

So I'm pretty certain I am going shopping tomorrow! My clothes are getting more uncomfy everyday, my bra straps seem to always be falling down and I can hardly wait to put a pair of sweats on when I get home! It is definitely time to go shopping! What I didn't realize is that the maternity clothes you buy should last you the entire pregnancy no matter how big you get! I just kinda assumed that I would have to go shopping again at 6 months cause these pants would start getting too tight and then again at 9 months!? But I have been informed that the pants I buy now 'should' grow with me till the baby is born! I don't want to spend too much money on maternity clothes so I am hoping I don't see too many cute tops! I am more looking forward to baby clothes shopping then mat. clothes shopping! I can't wait to buy little itty bitty socks and sleepers! :) Maybe I will see some Christmas gifts too while we are shopping, I really need to start !!! :o
