Need to make a decision...

Well, I went and talked to my 'coach' last night, it was the first time I've seen her in over a month!! (Probably been about 5 weeks since I last saw her cause it was always her niece there). It was nice to see her again after all this time and I think it was good to talk to her, someone that has "been there, done that". She said she was also having trouble getting back on 100% and she said she also gained 10lbs while on holidays, which made me feel a bit better. Not that I gained 10lbs while technically on holidays but since my last weigh in which was about 5 weeks ago I have gained 10lbs! :( I can't believe it myself, 10lbs in 5 weeks!?!? OMG! I will be back in my fat pants in no time at that rate! Sooooo ..... I need to make a decision!

I need to either decide to go back on IP 100% - no cheats, stick to the plan! OR .... try something new/ old? My thoughts on all of it is that I know IP works IF you stick to the plan 100% but it will work and it will work fast! I am just not that excited about starting it again, it wasn't really a diet I would say was "easy" to follow or one that I actually enjoyed. I'm not sure I even really learned anything on it but that could be because I never fazed out all the way. I like the idea of trying something new cause then it's exciting and new BUT ... will it work??? And then there is always the old stand by ... NS and the gym. It worked for me the first time I tried to diet and I still believe that even though it is a packaged food diet, I feel like I learned more on that diet. It broke more of my habits and taught me more about portion sizes. I feel like on NS it was more balanced then IP - I was able to have yogurt, fruit and whole grain foods, it is based on a low GI diet but on NS I didn't do well the last time I was on it cause I had the idea I was maintaining not loosing!? I just don't know what I want to do ... I'm so sick of salad but I know IP works. I am not happy with my weight yet and feel like I still have another 20lbs to go (10lbs from holidays and the last 10lbs I had before holidays). I need to figure this out and hopefully soon, cause I'm worried that if I don't have a plan I will continue to fail or in this case gain. :P

No lunch! ? WTF? ?

Well, it is my third week back to work and technically yesterday was hubby's second full day with Jacob and I can honestly say that I'm NOT impressed by Daddy's parenting skills! When I got home yesterday, Jacob came running over with a huge smile on his face (which I love) but all he had on was a onesie, not a huge deal because it is summer but it was a little chilly out yesterday and his legs felt cold. But I know that wasn't the reason why he had no pants on, it's because it is easier to change a diaper when you don't have to worry about putting pants back on and Dad is kinda lazy that way. The thing that ticked me off the most was when I asked what Jacob had for lunch and Hubby said "yogurt", and I stared at him waiting to see what else .... but no there was nothing else, just yogurt!! :o And when I looked at him funny and said you have to feed Jacob more, hubby just responded with "he wasn't hungry" which I know the only reason why he wouldn't eat more is because he had too much milk! So I said that, you are giving him too many bottles and not enough food - now he is going to wake up in the middle of the night!! And guess what happened .... Jacob was up at 12:30am starving! Apparently I need to make Jacob a lunch when I make my lunch and label it! It's not like we don't have food in the fridge and there are bananas on the counter !?

I also apparently have to be more specific when I ask hubby to help with chores. I asked him to trim the hedge and tree by our front door cause it's hard to walk on the sidewalk with all the overgrowth. So I came home and yes, he did trim the hedge and tree but only by the front door ? What about the rest of the hedge? It looks like crap! I don't understand why he didn't trim the entire hedge since he had the trimmer out it wouldn't have been that much harder!? I also asked him to vacuum which he did but not the rug in Jacobs room or by the back door so now I have to haul out the vacuum to do the floor he missed?! grrrr
I slept like crap last night, even though I tried to go to bed early (9:30pm) I couldn't fall asleep till 10:30pm and then hubby got home at 11:30, then Jacob was up at 12:30 and it took me till 1:30am to fall back asleep just to get woken up again at 2:30am by some kids outside setting off crackers (sounded like gun fire!). I'm beat, and even though I have tomorrow off I won't be able to sleep in or have a break cause hubby won't be home to help so I will have to go visiting or shopping to pass the time!? I'm sure it will be a very long day!

update from cheat week

Well, my "cheat week" wasn't so bad - after a week of snacking more then usual and going through the occasional drive thru I didn't even gain a pound so what did I do .... had another "cheat week" !!! LOL It's so hard for me to stop snacking once I started which is probably why I don't usually allow myself to have a "cheat day" cause I know it wouldn't stop at the end of the day! But surprisingly after TWO cheat weeks I still have not gained and only maintained, which I suppose is good but I still want to loose another 25 pounds so I best get back on the diet train and try again to loose more weight!!! I think I've gotten most of my cravings out of my system and can go back to eating fruits and veggies!

I have a meeting on Thursday with my boss, I guess that means I pretty close to going back to work! He wants to know when I am headed back and to be quite honest I am very eager to go back to work! I would never give up any of the time I have had with Jacob and I'm so grateful to have enjoyed the year off with him (I know some women don't get that opportunity) but some days I am so exhausted and frustrated. It's not like Jacob can say to me "You did a very good job today as a Mom and I had lots of fun" or "you know Mom I really don't like mashed potatoes and wish you wouldn't give them to me anymore"! And even though I know I must be doing something right cause I can see him growing mentally and physically it's just nice to hear the words sometimes. I think I'm also a little house bound too, even though I try to get out at least once a day I still feel like this house is small - I can only do laps around the kitchen so many times before I get bored and I'm sure Jacob is too! It will be better when summer is here and we can play outside more!

On a plus note, I think Jacob is growing cause boy does he ever sleep good now!! His naps are long and he sleeps through the night, although his bedtime has been later (around 9pm) but I'm OK with that, as long as he sleeps through the night!

I'm not much of a reader but decided to give Twilight a chance (I'm sure you've heard of the book), it's AMAZING!!! I just finished it and feel the need to read it again just in case I missed something the first time but I also want to start reading the next book to see what happens! I've NEVER had this dilemma before, usually when I finish the odd book I never feel the need to read it again!? And I never thought I would be interested in a vampire book! It gives me chills just thinking about it and the way the author describes the feelings between Bella and Edward give me goose bumps!! Seriously a good book, I should have bought the set like everyone said!

So besides not sticking to my diet and staying up way too late reading Twilight I haven't really been up to much!? I'm excited and yet upset that my time with Jacob is coming to an end but I'm looking forward to the days when Jacob can play with my girlfriends boys since it seems like all my friends have boys - it should be lots of fun in a few years when they can all walk and talk.

Time flies

I know it's been a while since I posted but I've been kinda busy, my weeks are full of visits and errands, which is nice and what little time I do have is usually spent on Facebook. So usually every Monday we meet with the Mom group and now swimming has started so that is every Tues and Thurs. Lately I have started meeting up with one of my girlfriends on Wed to walk the mall (since it is too cold outside) and lately the weekends our friends have been coming over.

I mentioned last week about the Moms Biggest Loser contest, well I paid my $40 and got weighed in my initial weigh in (according to another Moms scale) was 219lbs !! I weighed in on my scale and it only said 214 so I am using that number for my weekly weigh in's to see how much I lost and the final weigh in will be done on other Moms scale. So for week 1 I an down -4.2lbs which is 1.96% weight loss, not bad better then some Moms but not as good as the others. I am back on NS but not quite as strict as I was the first time I was on (last year). For example we had a birthday party at our house on Sat and we deep fried a turkey, I made chili and there were other snack type foods. Well I partake in all of that plus had a piece of ice cream cake. Before I would have never let myself get off track and would have stuck to my NS diet, but I was still able to loose over 4lbs so I'm happy with that! As for exercise, I'm really not doing much except swimming and walking the mall, not yet anyway.

Jacob is doing great - he had an odd day last Sat with absolutely NO naps ALL day (which was weird) but he wasn't even really cranky and he went to bed super late. He isn't drinking much milk at all now and is much more interested in what I am eating. I am now giving him finger type foods like toast strips and rice cookies. Soon I think I will give him steamed veggies and see if he likes them, I am trying to introduce the sippy cup but he really doesn't understand how to get the liquid out, I'm sure it will happen soon? He likes to drink out of a cup without the sippy part but I have to hold the cup for him and he sometimes wears more then he drank.

O - I hear him waking, which is good - we have to leave for swimming in 30 min! Better go get his bag packed and maybe give him a snack!?

Random stuff....

This week seems fairly busy, Monday the "mom's group" decided to meet at one of the swimming pools in Sherwood Park for a swim date. I was the first one there and was starting to wonder if I was going to be the only one to show when finally 15 minutes later another mom showed up and one more about 10 minutes after that but by then Jacob was starting to get hungry and my hands were getting wrinkled (which I hate!) so we had to leave. It was fun to get out though even if we didn't get to socialize too much. I think next week we are going to try and do lunch - which might be even harder to socialize at but that's OK, it gets us out of the house!! :)

I met a girlfriend today for coffee, it was just a short visit - I had Jacob with me and it seems like conversation is just harder to do when the little guy is around? If he's not fussing for food or diaper change then he is sitting there being all cute and we seem to watch him more then talk!? Next time I will have to leave him at home with Dad so I can actually have a conversation, but once again it was still nice to get out considering we woke up this morning to snow!!! Pretty soon it is going to be really cold and I won't feel like going out at all so I will take full advantage of getting out now!

After coffee Jacob and I stopped at Toys R Us and bought a new car seat (a Christmas present from one of the Great-Grandmas). It is a 3 in 1, which means it goes from infant to toddler to booster seat and is rated for 5-80lbs! It seems like a good seat, it isn't really the right material I was looking for (this one is kinda crushed velvet and I was hoping for one that would be a little easier to clean/ wipe if spills happen) but the fabric is washable so if any spills do happen you just have to take all the padding off and wash it. I posted a pic of it below:

The straps are super easy to adjust and it reclines into 3 positions. The cup holder will also come in handy later on. So I guess I will no longer be using the carrier car seat anymore and from now on I will have to carry Jacob to and from the car! The only part that confuses me is in the winter when it is -30C and you put Jacob in his snow suit are you suppose to take it off in the car to put him in his seat cause they say your not suppose to put the baby in the seat with too thick of clothes on? I don't get it!?

So tomorrow I am hoping to finish painting my cupboard doors and then hubby can hang them before the weekend. Then Thursday we have swim class, my Grandparents are headed to Yuma next week so I promised I would visit them one last time before they go (so that will be Friday) and then we are having a pot luck with a bunch of friends on Sat! It should be fun although I wish I would have made it the weekend after so that more of my friends could make it! I forgot there was already an activity planned with my girlfriends and they can't cancel so it will probably just be mostly hubbies friends here. I was going to book a photo session this week for Christmas photos but the studio I want to go to is booked all week so next Wed we are getting our photos done!

I have also been thinking lots lately about my diet or should I say lack of a diet! I think I have gained 10lbs since the birth of Jacob and it is really starting to get to me! I really miss my pre-pregnancy clothes, but I have no motivation to diet! I wish it was easier to loose the weight! I was thinking about going back on Nutrisystem but we really can't afford it right now and I'm so sick of eating my fruits and veggies! It's funny how when you eat healthy you seem to crave healthy foods but when you eat the crap you crave it too. So now that I have been eating all the foods that are bad for me (like McDonalds and every other fast food joint) I seem to be craving them more and the thought of eating healthy doesn't really interest me but the thought of gaining weight bothers me too!? I wish I had a high metabolism but then that would mean that I would probably have to be really active and I'm just too lazy! he he Soon I will be back on the diet wagon, I was going to start today but then I had an egg Mcmuffin for breakfast and thought that maybe tomorrow will be the day!? Meh - or maybe next week, who am I kidding?! ;)

3 Months already!

Well 3 months has passed already and I can't believe at how Jacob has changed, I love watching him develop new skills. Right now he has discovered his hands so I will hold toys for him and try to get him to grab them or hit them and when he does I cheer and get all excited. He seems to like this and tries even harder to hit it again! He still has a little bit of a cold, just a little stuffed up but it should pass soon. I did find a digital ear thermometer that was on sale at Babies R Us, I love it ~ not only is it fast but easy to use! It comes with an adaptor so that we can use it too and it also came with another thermometer (the kind you stick under the arm or under the tongue). Babies R Us also had those baby seats on sale (the no name version of a Bumbo) but this one was actually better cause it came with a tray that had toys on it. He's not quite ready for the seat yet, even though he can hold his head up pretty good it is still a little heavy for him and his head starts to bob after a while so I think I will wait for him to go in it, technically he's not suppose to use it till he is 4 months (according to the box?).

We had our Mom and Tot class yesterday and I got Jacob weighed (so I could put it in his baby book). Jacob weighed in at 15lbs 8oz and was 24" long ~ that's more then double his birth weight @ 7lbs and was 19" long!!! :O There was a nutritionist that was the guest speaker at the baby class which I was super excited for, I was surprised to find out that they now recommend that at 6 months your baby can eat whatever you want to feed it!? Anything except honey! ! I think it's because they realize that the older generations have less allergies then the younger ones now and I think it's because they weren't introduced to these foods as children therefore not getting the immunities they need to fight off allergies to them (like peanut butter). The nutritionist pretty much said that there is no point in buying canned "baby food" unless you want to pay more cause you can get the same thing out of fresh/frozen food and pureeing it yourself. It's like they are going back to the old way of feeding your kid. I really liked her, she was young but her ideas made sense to me, not like some of the other nurses that will tell you crazy things. I asked her about Jacob and asked if he was too big, I never really thought that he was until people kept telling me not to worry about his weight!? I never once thought he was heavy until people would say things like "don't worry he will burn it off when he starts to walk" ~ then I would look at him and think maybe they are seeing something I'm not and maybe he is too big!? But the nurse said he is just fine and according to the graph thing he is good. I also asked about his eating habits, you see he is a snacker and seems to like to eat smaller meals but more often, 4oz every hour till nap time or bed time, it still works out to the 35-40oz he should be getting per day but he just seems to eat all the time. I asked about when he should get "breakfast" "lunch" and "super" and they said that as long as he is sleeping through the night (which he is ~ at least 8-10 hours) then not to worry about it. So I won't, if he likes to snack then snacking it is! I like to think that it will train his metabolism to be fast cause he is always getting mini meals and hopefully he will not have my slow metabolism, but only time will tell!? Eventually I will be giving him rice cereal for breakfast and supper so maybe that will help him learn that there is a meal time? He is starting to show signs of being interested in food (other then milk), he watches me when I eat and has started to smack his gums like he is chewing on something. So that's about all that is new, I think soon I need to get into more of a schedule for me - now that he is kinda on a schedule I would like to have a weekly activity. Soon Mom and Tot class will be over and then I would like to take him swimming twice a week, that should help me get back into shape!? Gotta go - someone's calling!! ;)
