Weigh in - week 3

This post will probably jump around a bit just cause it's been so long since I posted and I have much to say but in little time! So lets get started .....

I put off posting my weigh in cause really there was no change, I actually gained 0.4lbs but I'm not counting that. So this Monday is week 4 weigh in and I'm hoping for better things cause I feel like I stayed on track for the most part and I did an extra lap around the mall last week. I know I really need to exercise more to see the numbers come off but it is so hard with Jacob and the cold weather!?? Hubby has been working lots of O.T. in the garage after supper so I can't even go after Jacob is asleep cause someone has to be in the house! Anyway hopefully this next weigh in is better and spring better come soon!

Lately as I said above hubby has been really busy in the garage and his "friends" have been coming over here to help and hang out on weekends instead of him going to their house. This is good news/ bad news ..... I like it cause he is home all weekend (even if he isn't really in the house I could still go check on him in the garage) BUT all his "friends" come in the house and I have to entertain. This is OK until Jacob starts getting cranky then I get annoyed cause Jacob doesn't want to miss anything and it is hard for him to go to sleep. Then when I finally get him in bed these "friends" keep coming in the house to use the bathroom and they aren't very quiet about it plus their vehicles are quite loud and usually when they leave at 1am they wake Jacob up!! And I don't want to stay up till 1am entertaining then have to get up early with Jacob - I do not function on less then 8 hours of sleep! But I like that hubby is home?! Gesh - you just can't please me can you! ? ;)

Jacob will be 8 months in a few days and I will post that on a separate post about all his milestones etc. But I must say that I am kinda freaking out about having to go back to work in 4 months! I think I am going to be a nervous wreck!! Part of me is excited to go back to work and have adult conversation all day but I really don't want to miss out on anything that Jacob does (hopefully he will have reached all the major milestones by the time I go back to work). Maybe I could get a "nanny cam"! he he

Last weekend we went to the monster trucks, my mom watched Jacob. They were OK but I don't think I will go again. We also went to WEM Waterpark and took Jacob with us there, it was fun but I think would have been better if we had someone to watch Jacob so we could go down the slides together and not alone!? Next time I think we will ask the Grandparents to come watch Jacob and we can all have fun!! Today is Valentine's Day, nothing special - the inlaws got us all a gift (which reminds me I forgot to call and thank my MIL -oops) and tomorrow is my Dads birthday (which also reminds me that I was meaning to call my brother and see if he had plans to take him out for supper). I finally got our passport photos taken so now I just need to get them signed and take all the paperwork in (hubby still needs to get his photo done but I'm tired of reminding him). I signed up for another swim class, the one we are in now ends next week and the new class starts the week after. This will be our last swim class though cause there are no more day classes after March and by then it should be nice enough out for us to do other things.

Have you noticed that I have putting the main subject in bold lettering? I thought it would be helpful for those of us that might be too busy to read the whole post and they can get the gist of things by reading the bold lettering. Cause I know sometimes I'm too busy to read my favorite blogs and when I do have a chance to read them I usually have no time to post comments (sorry). Well speaking of time - I gotta run, hopefully I will be able to post Mon with my weigh in!

Last day of class

I've actually had a fairly busy week so far, I didn't even realize that it was Thursday already and I haven't even posted yet about our last baby class!! So... the class was good, I got to ask my questions about bathing and there was one idea I really liked ~ one Mom said she fills the big tub with about 2-3 inches of water, puts a towel on the bottom of the tub (to prevent slippage) and lays her baby on the towel. She said her baby just loves it and has a great time splashing around! I think I will try this next time, I'm pretty sure Jacob would also like splashing around. We had the "safety lady" come in and talk about car seats, dangerous household poisons and other house hold safety stuff. She was pretty good and I learned a few things from her as well, like where the chest clip on the car seat is suppose to be. I think we will have to buy a permanent car seat soon cause carrying Jacob in the portable car seat is starting to get pretty darn heavy!! At the end of class we all got a certificate saying they completed the class and we took a class photo, oh and we also exchanged emails and a lot of us have stayed in contact on Facebook so hopefully there will be some get togethers?!

I think I am nesting???! I never really did when I was pregnant but lately I have felt the need to clean? Like crazy cleaning not just the regular dusting and vacuuming stuff. On Wednesday I decided that the kitchen would be my first "victim" and after I did the regular cleaning I got on my hands and knees and scrubbed the floor (usually I just Swiffer) and since I was on my knees I washed the cupboard doors, then cleaned out the fridge. But of course I got interrupted and so today I took down all the M&M candy dispensers we have on top of the cupboards and scrubbed them, tomorrow I am going to go buy some white paint and paint the cupboards! And I will see how expensive new handles are cause I might buy some of them too! I just feel like I want to get stuff done and I want it done now! I think I will pick a new "victim" every week and that will be my project, next I think is the master bedroom!

Tuesday night I picked up my scrap booking stuff and of course ordered more, I admit I'm addicted! I got my inlaws to watch Jacob for a couple hours while I picked up my stuff cause hubby was busy in the garage. He is trying to get a car finished for this weekend and I then we will finally have our garage back (not that I get to park in it but at least this project will be finished). I still want to go visit my Grandma and haven't got around to that yet, maybe this weekend? Other then that not much else is new, next week Jacob has to get more shots so I think I will drag hubby there again and he can hold him.

Baby class

Well we had another Mom and tot class and I must say that I am a little sad that next week is our last week already!? I wish the class was longer, just when I'm starting to get to know the other Mom's it's over!! I don't even know every ones name yet! :( I almost want to sign up again for another session, I did however sign up for Mom and tot swim classes, they start Oct 21st and I'm pretty excited about that but it is also a pretty short class and only has 8 lessons (twice a week, so only 4 weeks long). There are other classes I could go to in my neighborhood but I think it would be nicer to get to know the same moms not new moms at every class? Anyway ~ at our last class we had a dental hygienist and a librarian as guest speakers. They were informative and as a matter of fact I went to the library today and got Jacob his very own library card (it was free and they gave him a free book too!!). I even used his card and signed out a few books now I just have to make sure to get them back in time! Library's sure have changed a lot since the last time I was in one, they have computers in there some for adults and some specific just for kids. There was even a little boy that looked to be about 4 playing a game on one!!

The hygienist was also a good guest speaker and gave us all free tooth brushes (one for us and one for baby), she was telling us how they don't recommend "sippy cups" at all anymore and to just teach your kid to drink out of a cup or straw. The nutritionist said the same thing the week before, sippy cups are only good for car rides and if you do use them you should take the stopper thing out before giving it to the kid!? I think next week is on safety and I have a few questions on bathing. I'm curious to know what other Moms are using for baths right now cause Jacob is too small for the big tub but he's too big for the baby tub and last night I tried bathing with him in the big tub but to me baths are suppose to be a relaxing time and I'm not really into sitting in 3 inches of luke warm water! To me a bath is so hot that it turns my skin pink and you can see the steam coming off the water!! So I sat in Jacobs 3 inches of luke warm water and then after he was done I had to add more hot water but by then I was bored of being in the tub!? Any ideas? I was thinking of picking up one of those seat things that you put baby in and I think it sticks to the bottom of the tub but then you have to try and wash baby with this seat in the way!?

Today is hubby and my 3 year anniversary!! We probably aren't doing too much for it, I think we will go for supper but not until October when things are a little less busy. This week is just too busy, tomorrow Jacob has a doctor appointment and I need to go see the scrapbook lady to pick up things I paid for but needed to be ordered. Then Friday is racing at the track and I think I will go visit my Grandparents. Surprisingly there is no races on Sat or Sun but I think hubby will be busy in the garage trying to finish a car he has been working on for a while but is almost done and I have a b-day party to attend. And I would really like to clean my car out before winter comes, and before we know it - it is already Oct! That's about all for now, I'm tired today even though lately Jacob has been sleeping 11-12 hours !! I'm amazed that he is sleeping that long already but unfortunately when he sleeps that long at night that means he doesn't nap during the day so all my "free time" is after he goes to bed at 8pm. I'm not complaining though I really like that he lets us sleep in till 7ish!! ;) Here is a pick of him playing with the rings, notice his tongue sticking out as he is trying to figure out what they are! he he

1st "New Mom's" class

Well, I guess a few things have happened since my last post. We had our first baby/ new mom's class yesterday!! It was fun, we spent the first hour introducing ourselves and talking about our experiences during pregnancy and labor. There are about 15 ladies in the group, two of them were in our prenatal class as well so I sat with them. It was very interesting to see and compare (I know your not suppose to but I think everyone does) babies and mom's. The youngest baby was only six weeks old and the oldest was 5 months. One Mom had a baby with colic (that of course cried almost the entire time we were there ~ poor mom!!) and there were quite a few babies that had acid reflux and were even on medicine to help! After we all introduced ourselves we went into groups and talked about different topics, my groups topic was "What are you doing for yourself?". Jacob had a great time and I think was amazed that there were other little people out there, some even smaller then him!!! He just kept staring at all the babies and even tried to make conversation with the 7 week old beside us! he he I had a good time and am actually looking forward to next week, I also think that this time away from home gives Dad his alone time as well (something I'm sure he misses). Unfortunately the nurse teaching the class is the same nurse that came to our house the day after I got home from the hospital and I thought was an idiot! But I'm not at the class to talk to the nurse, I'm there to meet the Moms!

Also on the weekend we went over to the in laws for a soak in the hot tub, which Jacob seems to really enjoy! He doesn't seem to care too much for bath time but he has no problem soaking in the hot tub!? Well the next day we get a knock on our door asking for me, it was one of our neighbors that we have never met yet, he had my car insurance papers!?!? He had found them behind his house in the back alley and thought he should return them!! We were really confused!? How did my insurance papers jump out of my car and get in his back alley!? So hubby went to go look in the car and guess what? It had been broke into!! :o I'm actually thinking that we forgot to lock the doors cause there was no damage, no broken windows or locks and no damage inside the car except that they took my little change holder thingy in the consul and riped my map holder off the visor (which is where I also kept my insurance papers/ pink card). I felt so violated but thankful that they didn't damage the car! It's kinda funny cause usually I leave my drivers licence, bank card and even sometimes my Visa in the consul but have recently purchased a card holder that I now keep in the diaper bag. And I had just cleaned the car of any spare change and only left a few quarters in there! I'm a little pissed that they took my sunglasses but I never paid for them anyway, they were a gift. But I'm so grateful that they never touched the baby car seat base or did any damage to the car! Although now I want to put up security cameras more then I have ever wanted too before!!

Other then that, I am recovering well from the surgery ~ probably about 90%. I've been trying to go for more walks now that I am feeling better but if I over do it I get a little bit of pain still. We have started to do the siding on the garage and now have the back finished and new sheds built. We expect to finish the rest of the garage on Sept long weekend. I found out that my boss fired the guy that was too replace me but I haven't heard the whole story yet and I'm not sure what happened!? And I think that is about all ~ in a nut shell, can't think of any other news so I guess I should get going before Jacob calls for me!!

Shots, Surgery and good ole' mother nature! :(

Jacob did really good when he got his immunizations, I made hubby hold him cause I knew I was going to have to be the one to deal with Jacob later and I didn't want to be seen as the bad guy! Hubby had to go to a big race that evening and wouldn't be home till early morning. Jacob only cried for a little while and quickly settled down after having three needles. The nurse gave me the 1st degree interrogation - asking what felt like the same questions over and over!? She asked what Jacob was eating and so I did what most mom's do and lied! ;) he he I told her formula and formula only ! Which he isn't, we give him water and sometimes rice cereal. He likes his water and it helps keep him regular, he's not too crazy about the rice cereal yet and I don't find that he sleeps any longer when I do give it to him so it's more just for fun and to get him used to eating cereal. She also asked me how I was feeling and I felt like she was staring at me waiting to see if I would crack under pressure?! Of course she asked about breastfeeding like every other person I run into (which is really starting to bug me ~ everyone asking if I'm breastfeeding .... like it's any of their business? Why does everyone have to ask that question? ?) And I had to take her little postpartum quiz, a silly test about my feelings.

The day after Jacob's shots I had my surgery, after our appointment with the nurse I called to find out what time my operation was going to be at. They told me I had to be at the hospital by 7am and the surgery was scheduled for 9:30am, no eating or drinking after midnight and no nail polish on fingers or toes!! So much for my pedicure!! :( We got to the hospital on time, hubby and Jacob hung out with me for about an hour and then they left. Everything seemed to be running on time, they had trouble getting an IV started (as usual) and said they would just let the "drug doctor" do it in the operating room. I was scared out of my mind and was seriously thinking that maybe I shouldn't bother getting it removed, maybe it would be better to just leave it in? The operation took about an hour and a half to complete and I remember being back in the recovery room by noon. Everything else is pretty much a blur, I remember hubby and Jacob coming up to see me around 2:30 cause he thought I could go home by then but they decided to keep me a little longer (apparently I was really white?). I didn't feel nauseous at all but I could barely keep my eyes open, I only got sick once at the hospital and they finally released me at 5pm. All I could think about in the hospital was what was for supper but as soon as I got home that was the last thing on my mind as I sat on the couch with a pail!! Hubby took pretty good care of me that night, making sure my ice pack was full of ice and my puke bucket was cleaned and emptied. Hubby was busy all weekend with racing so I was pretty much on my own from Friday night on, yesterday was a pretty hard day I was still in pain but the Tylenol 3 makes me sleepy and it's hard to look after Jacob when you're sleepy so I didn't take as many meds as I wanted too - needless to say I was super happy when hubby finally walked in the doors at 6:30pm!! He is gone today too but I don't feel as sore and I told him that I can not do another 10 hour day so he better be home by 4 today?~ We'll see if that happens ?? I feel bad for Jacob and the dog cause I can't take them for their afternoon walk and I can't play with Jacob on floor like I usually do, I tried getting hubby to take them for a walk last night but he said it was too hot (which it was) so instead we went swimming/ visiting at the Grandparents. Jacob really seems to like swimming, I can't wait till I can take him to classes.

So not only did I have to deal with a somewhat cranky baby from getting his shots and then having my surgery the next day but the day after my surgery good ole' mother nature stopped by!! So I'm not sure if the pain in my stomach is from surgery or from cramps? It sucks - I sure didn't miss this when I was pregnant!! So I guess now I am almost back to normal and as soon as I am healed (about 7 to 10 days) I think I might have myself a treat!~! I'm giving myself till my birthday (Sept 14th) to have cheat/ treat days but after my birthday I am going to be 100% serious about dieting/ exercising!! By then I will be 100% healed and Jacob will be 3 months old so we will be able to get involved with exercise classes and I can push myself a little harder. I also joined a mom's group - the first class is not until the 26th of August, I will meet other mom's in my neighborhood and be able to talk to them about issues that might be bugging me or listen to their stories and be able to relate to them, it should be fun!?

Up coming surgery ...

Two more days and three more sleeps till I go for my gall bladder surgery and I must say I'm scared out of my mind!! Not that I would tell anyone else that but I can honestly say that I'm a little freaked out. They say that a lot of women that had attacks while pregnant will never have another attack again (unless they get pregnant again... something about all the hormones in your body?). So if I wanted too I could choose not to have my gall bladder removed and just take the chance, eat fatty foods and hope I don't have an attack or just get it removed and never have to worry about the thing ever again!? I know quite a few ladies that have had theirs removed and say it was the best thing they ever did, but they had the surgery done years ago when the surgeon had to actually open you up and you would stay in the hospital for 3-5 days. Now a days they do the surgery by laproscopic and all I will have are four small wounds and be discharged from the hospital the very same day!!! :o I have no idea what I am going to feel like after and I think that is what scares me the most ..... what if I'm too sore to pick up Jacob when he is crying? or what if I need help out of bed and hubby is working? Will I need him to babysit me? I don't think he is too excited about me going for surgery (not that he really has a choice) but there is a big race the day before my surgery (the same day as Jacob's shots that I'm already making him miss a little of the race to be with me for support) and then the regular races on the weekend. He's not really the sit and home and I'll take care of you type guy, he rarely likes to sit at home on any day. I suppose we will get through it just like anything else we have done but it still sucks and a part of me wishes I didn't have to go!

I must admit that this staying at home bit is starting to get a little boring and yes I know that eventually Jacob will become more active and entertaining but for now he is really kinda boring?! Everyday he has "play time" where he is more active cooing and entertaining - which to me is the best part of the day and I love to see him smile at me, it makes my day! But there is still a good portion of the day where he is sleeping or he is awake and I'm thinking to myself ... now what?! He's been fed, changed, burped, we did a little tummy time and I tickled him till I thought he had enough, I talk to him almost all day and wait patiently for him to coo back to me. But then what? I think I want to get one of those baby carriers that you wear on your chest, I think it's called a Snuggly? Cause the other day I went outside to do some gardening and put him in he stroller thinking that he would be OK with just being outside but I think he thinks that the stroller is suppose to move and if it doesn't move for a while then he cries? Same thing with the car and his baby seat, if we hit too many red lights or are stuck in traffic not moving he screams! It's like he knows if he is in something with wheels it needs to move!! So maybe if I had one of those Snuggly things then I could get stuff done outside (while it's still nice out) cause there is only so many times that I can wash the floors and clean bathrooms in one week! ;)

I'm a little anxious with the weight loss, I really miss the new/ old me, just when I was starting to be comfortable with the new "skinny" me I get fat again. I know it was all for a really good cause and I would do it over in a heart beat. I'm so glad I lost 80lbs before getting pregnant cause if I didn't then I would have to loose soooo much weight now and loosing weight is the hardest thing I have ever had to do!! I'm still stuck at 190, actually I think I have gained a few pounds since then and I'm at 194!!! It pisses me off that instead of loosing I'm gaining and I need to focus more on eating healthy! I wish I could be one of those skinny girls that never has to worry about how many carbs I've eaten today or if it's OK for me to have a treat? I want to be at 170 again and I know before I said "it takes 9 months to gain the weight so take 9 months to get it off" but I'm so impatient, I want it to all fall off effortlessly! Doesn't everyone?! ;) Jacob is almost holding his head up for longer periods so I think when he is at 3 months I will join a mom/ tot swim group or find other groups for mom's that want to exercises and burn the fat! I'm also thinking of joining a mom/baby group that is in my neighborhood (for babies over 6 weeks), it starts Aug 26, goes for 6 weeks and costs $30. It will get me out of the house once a week (and not just to go to WalMart), I will meet other moms (and potential future friends) and I will get to talk about any concerns or questions.

Another busy day

Another busy day today, I am at work now till probably close to 11am - then off to my 36 week doctor appointment. Which will hopefully be quick and hopefully she will have my test results or I might have to do the GBS test again!? Then I will head back to work for three hours, head home to let the dog out for a quick pee and off the the track till probably 11pm? Hubby was out at the track yesterday for most of the day and didn't crawl into bed till 12:30am then his alarm went off at 5:30am and he was headed out the door again to go back! I told him he was nuts, something I couldn't do - only get 5 hours of sleep and just to work another 18 hour day!! :o But he enjoys working out there and he does get paid to be out there so it's not like he is loosing any money by not working on cars or reno's!? I figure it is better to let him do the things he wants like this now instead of after baby is born, cause who knows how I will be feeling and I might really need his help then, I don't want him to think that this baby is going to stop him from still enjoying the things he likes and plus he gets kinda cranky when I nag him too much! he he

Hubby did make sure to fix my tap and vacuumed before he left yesterday so I was happy about that. Except the end of the hose had the wrong kind of fitting on it and I couldn't use the flower sprayer (the one that is like it's raining) so I had to use my thumb to give them a spray. I finished getting the dog smears off the window, did a couple loads of laundry and cleaned the bathrooms!! :o So I should be good for the housework for another week!? I guess I was wrong too about being finished baby laundry, I forgot that my SIL had given me a bunch of bibs and receiving blankets that she no longer needs. I also packed babies bag last night!! I really have no idea what to put in it so I put 3 diapers with 3 liners and one rubber pant, a receiving blanket, a fuzzy soft blanket, and two outfits just in case one gets messed on before we leave the hospital. I'm not sure if I missed anything? I assume that the hospital will have any other items I may have missed? We learned in baby class that you shouldn't put baby in the rubber pants right away in case of chafing and their sensitive skin? I hate how all information you get is contradicting and there will always be someone that says it's not good or wrong?

Back to work!

Well, I'm back at work..... just when I was starting to get used to my mini holiday!! So far things are going OK, we are kinda busy so that aways makes the day go by a little faster! My week off was pretty uneventful, I did a little baking (banana muffins and dog cookies) - hubby is starting to feel a little left out so next time I will have to make him some cookies! ;) So we now have the baby furniture in our house, still in the boxes but at least it is there! Yesterday the races got cancelled due to rain so I made sure that we did a little shopping, we were looking for a closet organizer, blinds and looked at some wood samples for the floor. Needless to say we didn't buy any of these things, instead we bought the paint so tonight I need to clean up my scrapbook desk (that is in babies room right now) so that hubby can prime the walls tomorrow and hopefully put the color on the walls next week? This week is so busy, we really only have Tuesday off. Tonight is our last baby class, we missed last week (hopefully nothing too important?), tonight is all about breastfeeding so I'm suppose to bring a teddy bear to practice on. Then next Monday is our tour of the hospital I would like to give birth at, hopefully baby will wait that long to come!?

So I've decided that since things seem to be a little unpredictable right now that maybe it is a good time to "clean" my computer of anything that may not be work related. Like my e-mails and any websites I saved as favorites! So far I have sent a e-mail to most people on my list to change my address and next I will have to write down all their addresses to transfer over to my home e-mail. I need to delete some programs that aren't really necessary but in the same breath make sure I don't delete the important ones?! he he

Hospital tour

The new guy at work seems to be a very nosy man, as I write this I'm paranoid that he is looking over my shoulder to see what I am doing!! gesh - and he is kinda weird!? I'm glad I only have to work with him for another 5 weeks or so!? We will see how the customers like him but I honestly don't think too many people will.

So last night was baby class, this time we had to meet at the hospital and met one of the L&D nurses that works at that hospital. She talked for the first hour or so and then took half the class on a tour and the rest of us stayed behind to learn about PPD (postpartum depression). The L&D (labor & delivery) nurse was so funny!! I almost wanted to go on the tour just to hear what she had to say, even though we don't plan on using that hospital. One thing I learned about this hospital (the Grey Nuns) is that they have three different postpartum rooms - the first is a "semi-private" room where you share it with a room mate and your baby, this is a "free" room. The other room you can get is a "private" room for $40 a night which isn't a bad price (cheaper then a hotel) and you don't have a room mate, and she was saying that now they have "theme" rooms for $110 a night which include a phone/ TV and are painted a little nicer, o and they have a double bed instead of a hospital bed so your partner can sleep with you instead of on the cot. I am using a hospital that all rooms are private LDR rooms (labor, delivery and recovery) everything is in the one room, you don't get moved down the hall to a recovery room and your baby never leaves your side unless there is an emergency. It's a private room and free for everyone! I booked our tour with this hospital for June 2nd, we have to pay $5 for the tour which isn't bad I suppose and it is in the evening so I don't have to miss any more work.

Since we finished class a little early we stopped in at the in laws for a quick visit, hubby had to talk to FIL about the fence building project they are doing this weekend. It felt like a pretty rushed day yesterday so I'm glad that there are no plans for this evening. I just need to catch up on some house work - laundry and dishes. It's hard to stay on top of house work when you work 7 days a week and are too tired after a long day at work! I feel more tired now then I did throughout the entire pregnancy, probably because of the weight gain.

2nd Baby class!

After my very grumpy day yesterday hubby took me out for supper before we headed to our baby class!! :) I hate trying to think of what to make for supper night after night and I'm not even that old yet, I can't imagine what it will be like when I'm 60!? :P

Baby class went well, we had to bring pillows to the class but we never even used them? Instead we just used the mats that they supply, I don't think we will bother bringing pillows anymore!? So last night we went over the different positions again, some of them I already know hubby doesn't like and we probably won't do them cause it will just cause more frustration then comfort. Then the ladies had to lay on the floor while the "partner" learned where all the pressure points were on our backs to help relieve some of the pressure that might be back there. I was just happy to be getting somewhat of a back massage, hopefully he remembers all to do all the rubbing and massaging when we are in the moment!? Then we watched a few videos on giving birth, one was on the different meds that you could have to help relieve the pain/ discomfort (like a epidural), the second movie was on c-sections. At first I must admit that I was all about having a epidural but now that we have seen the movie and I think I know more about it, I'm not sure if it would be the best thing? I would like to go into labor with an open mind and if I need pain relief I will know that there is always that option but I hate the idea of having to use forceps to assist the baby out. We also talked about packing our bag for the hospital and things we might need. I realized the other day that since I am at 33 weeks already that packing my bag and babies bag are things I should start thinking about but then I realized I don't have anything to pack even if I wanted too!?! I need to go shopping and first off buy a diaper bag so I can put everything in it, then I need to pick up some sleepers/ outfits cause the only ones I have at home are too big for a newborn and I need to pick up the cloth diapers at my MIL's house. I need to buy some of the basics like wipes and lotions, I now feel like I'm running out of time!? We haven't even taking the stroller/ car seat out of the box yet!

Next week we do the hospital tour but since the tour is not at the hospital we will be giving birth at I'm still undecided if we will go or not, apparently only half the class is for the tour and the other half we will be learning about post-partum which I think is kinda important!? I have a doctor appointment this Friday for my 33 week appointment and I think after I book my next appts (35 week and 37 week) I will also try and arrange a hospital tour on one of the same days as my doctor appt, since the hospital and my doctor are in the same city. Some of the ladies in our class were saying that after 30 weeks time slows down a bit, which I'm kinda hoping cause I feel like we have so much to do still and I know that the last 32 weeks flew by!

Our 1st class!

Our first class went fairly well, the room was full with about 15 couples (30 people) - most of them were our age except for one couple, the guy looked old enough to be my Dad!! And his partner didn't seem much younger, they looked like they were in their mid forties!! We started out playing this "Bingo" game that was really just to get us talking to all the other couples cause we never did win anything for having a line or full card!! ;) After that we watched a movie that wasn't too graphic, it showed us exactly what your body goes through in order to give birth - like how this baby needs to fit through your pelvic bones and how the bones expand!! The more I watched and listened to the lady the more freaked out I got!! :o So I guess things haven't changed too much in the years cause the movie we watched looked like it was made the year I was born!! The movie also talked about different positions you could use to relieve some pain or "discomfort" you might be having! Then we got to try out all the different positions, I think my favorite one was where I lean on the wall with my arms up and hubby rubs my back!! ;) We also got to listen to a relaxation tape while laying on these mats - it was OK but the lady talking on the tape had too much saliva and you could hear every time she swallowed .... it was kinda distracting! Next week we need to bring our pillows, the 3rd week we get to tour the hospital but since I will hopefully not be giving birth at this hospital we may skip this tour or just go for half the class, and the last week is breast feeding week so we need to bring a teddy bear.

Weekend went way too fast!

Well the weekend was a good one but it seemed way too short, I seriously woke up this morning wondering why my alarm was going off .... I could have sworn it was Sunday! ?!

Friday night we ended up going over to a friends house, it was a nice visit but everyone there was a smoker and after hanging out for four hours in the tiny apartment that was full of smoke I started to feel quite sick, we ended up getting home around 1:30am.

The bowling banquet was Saturday night so I didn't do too much during the day and hubby was out at the track getting it "race ready". I wasn't very happy with the banquet, a few years ago when my FIL was treasurer we voted to change the order prizes were handed out and that we should do all the team prizes before the high single prizes. This worked out good cause then people that were really good bowlers didn't end up with 5 prizes before the not so good teams even got one prize! This year however they went back to the old way of handing out all the personal prizes first then the playoff prizes so by the time our team went up to pick prizes there wasn't very much left and we had crap to pick from! I feel riped off cause I paid $72 to bowl for the year (the same as everyone else) but since our team didn't do very well the prize I got was a pasta bowl set that I will never use and a $10 gift card for IGA and hubby ended up with vases, a ice bucket and some wine glasses!! :( I wish they would have kept the order the same as last year, and we thought that the lady in charge grouped too many prizes so when you got your prize you might have ended up with 3 like my hubby cause she considered that one prize! ? If she would have left them separate then maybe I would have had more of a selection to chose from or a better chance of getting a "door prize" !? It just made me really angry that we paid $144 for a $20 meal and two $30 prizes, I probably wouldn't be as angry if the prize was something I wanted or could use!? As for the meal, it was OK - lots of carbs which normally would be bad but since it's really the only thing that I can have it turned out OK! There was buns (of course), 2 salads (cesar and pasta), a pickle and cheese tray, perogies, cabbage rolls, mashed potatoes, roast beef, roast chicken and mixed veggies. I was also angry that we had to pay for pop and water!! Most event now a day's try to promote safe driving and let the designated drivers have pop or water for free!! I think we should have raised enough money through the year to pay for a couple pops and if we didn't then they should have raised the price of booze by $0.50 to cover the cost!! O -- and the lady in charge of buying prizes apparently spent money of her own so she set up a 50/50 draw so that she could get her money back!! I think this is BS ~ it's not my fault she spent too much money, she was treasurer and should have been keeping better track of the books and known how much money was in the bank! I think she just did it to give herself a wage for the season .... needless to say we didn't buy any 50/50 tickets! If it's the same people in charge next year, I'm not bowling!

Saturday night after the banquet we were going to go over to a friends house to celebrate his birthday but he ended up going out of town so we stayed home. Sunday hubby went back to the track to try and get things ready for this weekend and I stayed home to clean. I forgot to mention that on Saturday I made some more dog cookies - the hamburger ones this time! She seems to really like them and they don't seem to give her as much gas as the pea/ garlic cookies did! ;) Tonight we have our first prenatal class, I'm not sure what to expect, I really don't want to pretend to be going through labor practicing my breathing skills around all these strangers so hopefully we won't be doing that!?

Early Prenatal class!

I almost forgot that we had our first "Early Prenatal Class" last night, it wasn't the actual Prenatal class but one that prepared you for what to expect while pregnant. They talked a lot about the hazzards and warning signs in pregnancy, and we talked a lot about diet and excersize. I had a few questions but most of the stuff she talked about I have already gone through, like morning sickness. We got to watch a video on the development of your fetus and the changes it goes through. She passed around these "gell babies" that were the actual size and weight of the baby at certain weeks during your pregnancy. We all got a book on pregnancy that has information and places in it too fill out your weight and babies heartbeat etc. The class was OK but I think for the most part a lot of the info I already knew from looking on the internet. There was 11 other couples there and we had to stand in a line from soonest due date to latest due date. I was surprised to see two couples there that were already 30 weeks along! I'm not even sure why they would bother with the "Early" class ~ seems a little late to me? Of course I had to compare belly bumps with all the other ladies, I felt like I was on the bigger side but that was probably because I was wearing loose pants and a sweater? Everyone was different, it was nice to see all the different ladies. My biggest concern was about fetal movement ~ they say that you are suppose to feel the baby move between 18-22 weeks but I'm in my 22nd week now and still don't really feel anything!? So I asked when it should be a concern? She said that if you still can't feel anything by 24 weeks that you should inform your doctor. I know the baby is moving in me cause we saw it on the ultrasound and the tech lady doing the ultrasound was telling me about how active baby was and surprised when I said I couldn't feel any of it!? I figure it's just because I have to much fat and the baby just needs to be a little bigger for me to feel it!? It kinda has me a little worried but I do feel the occasional tickle so I'm sure it will come!?

So since the class was from 7-9 I didn't have time to copy down the cookie recipe so I will have to do that tonight and post it for you tomorrow. Hubby plans on finishing the distruction of the basement tonight and then this weekend we will hopefully be able to start onthe building part!! How exciting!! I can hardly wait to see it all come together, I think it will look way beter then it did! I may have to post some pics of before/ during and after!? ;)
